Just got back from the big city

Spent four days in NYC visiting family. Really surprised by the garbage, homelessness and rats running all around the parks (and subway platforms!) Saw Hamilton and a couple of indie films, ate in several good restaurants, spent what seemed like a gazillion dollars shopping in SoHo. Good trip but no need to go back for quite a while.

Well, there are those that hate NY and Los Angeles, Chicago and on and on and there are those that love those big cities, no matter what the bad stuff is. Jacksonville, Florida, where we just spent 10 1/2 years, has quite a bit of black-on-black crime (murders), but that doesn't bother those living there and making a nice income. All they think about is going to a nice restaurant on Friday and/or Saturday night and shopping at Nordstrom's, Macy's, Sacs 5th Avenue and others. Going to Walmart would be a disgrace to them.

Well I sure would not want to live in a big city, but my wife and I do enjoy visiting for a couple of days, …. and then "beating feet out of Dodge." Of the big cities, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and Seattle are our favorites, but we don't "linger at the party."
