Have You Ever Ordered A Fake Meat Burger?

I tried one, not really impressed. Tim Hortons here in Canada experimented with the Beyond Meat Veggie Burgers but has now pulled it from the menu due to lack of sales.

Probably all the ingredients they put in to fake the meat taste are more harmful than eating the real meat burger.

Never thought I would be saying this....
I prefer the veggie burger to the fake meat burger. The veggie burger I had (dragged to)a small place in Peterborough. The taste was actually good, did not feel like I had much to eat though. Buns were home made or at least made there.
The fake meat burger, not enough ketchup to hide that nasty thing.
I am a carnivore pure and simple and will remain one.
I always say at least give it a shot.
Gone.😝😝😈

C'est Moi The fake meat (really nasty) is made to look (they say) like meat and to taste like meat. It does not in my opinion.
The veggie burger was made of herbs and plants and had its own taste.

I had a grilled veggie burger a number of years ago. By itself it was just ok. As meat, no way.

Now these Beyond Meat and Better than Burger come out and they are still veg ie: "plant based", mostly with some kind of peas, beet juice and I forgot what else.

About 2 months ago, they were in my store's meat case for the price of $11.98 a pound; sold in smaller amounts, however. Can you imagine?

The other day when I looked they went down to $8.00 a pound.

I think they were just a "flash in the pan." :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

last week I saw Beyond Meat in the frozen section of our grocery store. It was $10.00 a pound. Next to it was a coupon for one pound free. Only one coupon left so I decided to try it. I made burgers the way I always make them with raw onion, salt and pepper.

The first thing I noticed was the consistency. Exactly like canned dog food but I continued.

I fried them because we don't use the grill during the winter months and I was afraid the broiler might dry them out.

My son was here so we all tried them. The consistency changed for the better and the flavor wasn't bad but after reading the label it didn't seem to be any better than meat. I guess it depends what you are trying to avoid.

If I absolutely had to eat them instead of meat I would. They had a better flavor than others I've tried in the past, they were gluten free which works for me but the price was way to much for my pocketbook and not worth it.

We've been buying Morning Star Farms Griller's Prime veggie burgers for years, and have been pretty happy with them. Recently I bought a frozen package with a couple of Beyond Meat burgers, made them at home. The texture was more like meat than the Morningstar, but it wasn't necessarily better tasting. Still plan to try the Impossible Burger and see how that is.

We still buy lean ground beef to make hamburgers sometimes, but switch off to veggie burgers also.

The best one I've ever had was in Mumbai, India on our last day. After three weeks of curry and rice three meals a day, I saw a McDonalds around the corner from our hotel and headed in. Inside we found several members of our group chowing down, looking guilty. We all had a good laugh. The whatever-it-was burger wasn't meat but it was delicious. And the fries were great.
