Anyone use the Instant Pot pressure cooker?

I bought one for my wife awhile back and we got it going the other day while my daughter was here. We tried hard boiled eggs first, they came out great.
The next thing we tried was baked Ziti. It was delicious. The only thing it needed was a little more sausage.
Up until then, I think my wife was a little hesitant to use it, as she remembers the old pressure cookers which tended to blow its top.

I use mine almost daily. I love it! Today I am making the beans for my veggie burgers in it. These are made safe so they don't blow up. But I understand her feelings, I was like that too. I watch YouTube videos on making different recipes in it. Check out Six Sisters Stuff. She explains it real good and has a lot of videos on using it.

We are not meat eaters, but I grew up with mom using a pressure cooker to cook a roast and taters with vegies. You may want to consider doing that, if that is the kind of diet you like. One of my memories of growing up was that pressure cooker valve moving around, banging on the lid as the steam pushed out. Never did 'blow up'. I know the new models are safer, better seals and venting.

I use an old-style pressure cooker for our artichokes. Cook time: 14 minutes, after pressure is reached. The sound of the escaping steam brings back very fond memories of my Mom's old rig. We were always warned, by Mom: NEVER try to open the lid while the steam is still hissing! Only a few years ago, this woman lost her leg to a pressure cooker top. She died, in hospital, shortly thereafter. To be fair, my unit contains a nub that pops up, when pressurized, and that prevents opening the top while pressure is still in the unit. I don't believe my Mom's old unit had that feature. I also make my tamales in the pressure cooker.

I have a brand new one-still in the box lol. Have to sit down and go over the instructions. I use my "old fashioned" pressure cooker all the time.

I also make my tamales in the pressure cooker.

Yummmm, tamales! Yesterday a guy that hubby used to work with came by his shop and gave him a half dozen pork tamales.(I`m thinking they probably made a ton of them for Super Bowl and everybody went home when the 49ers lost lol) Anyway,he brought them home and we had them for lunch.Soooo good. An unexpected treat!

Years ago,my daughter and I attempted tamales, but the results were less than appealing.

Yes, I have two Instant Pots; a 6 qt and a 3 qt. I bought the 6 qt. and liked it so much that I bought the smaller one since I cook for 2 these days. I also still have a stovetop pressure cooker that's at least 25 years old; it never gets used anymore.

We have loved our 3 Qt IP for a couple years now... will be getting a larger one when the house is done and have more room.
still have my Grandmas old pressure canner too... its gets used several times a year still

i used a pressure cooker years ago, and it blew up on me....😱 so i wouldnt touch one of those again......🄓

My mom had a pressure cooker, which she never used, except for one time. They made corned beef and cabbage. It was one from the 1940s, and they were making Boston baked beans, when it blew up. They were scarping beans off the ceiling for days. That's why they were afraid to use it.
