@Gary O' will be the expert on this one.. he lives most of the year in that very cabin in the woods...

Depends where the cabin is for me of course.. if it's near the ocean or in the woods.. what time of year it is, what part of the world..

is this cabin already furnished?..do I have to take my own bed or cooker? :p

I found mine....

Good questions
Tough to answer without knowing
Having heat relieves the need for a means to create fire
So, assuming it's furnished, with dishes, etc;
A small caliber rifle
Hunting knife
Coffee
(There better be a stream not too far away)
and only aloud 3 items to take inside
Guess my wood and flint will be used for a campfire outside

no trick qs folks = just three items --this is not luxury camping hhahaha-- ken we are not looking for places lol...

I used to have a remote cabin. It didn't have wifi or cable. The cellphones only worked when you drove up the hill in the golf cart.
For entertainment we had DVDs, magazines, & books. We spent most of the time sitting on the talking on the back porch, watching stars, talking around the fireplace, or swimming & fishing in the lake.

No fire-arm needed here...,

So ..water, food ,... and a dog... if I'm in the woods...

If I'm in a cabin near the ocean, then Salt water tablets... fishing net or rod , and a dog...

First time I came up this way, very sharp hatchet, miles of string, various thicknesses. With an ax/hatchet you can protect build etc.
With the string you can build, snares, traps weapons. (bow crossbow). A close water supply would be nice. Knowledge of the area
and inhabitants would be very important. Food would be the third item.

Sounds like Pete knows what he's talking about ... must have been quite an experience!
Thanks Bonnie... you have to remember everyday was not perfect... over the years I had forest fires, bears, mosquitoes, snow falls measured in feet and -40 degree winters balanced against no bills for electric, water or rent no rush hour well in fact no traffic at all and as icing on the cake many nights for 7 months of the year a light show put on by heavenly angels (aka Aurora ). If you wish I have a video of (
)me and a couple friends building at the homestead if you Fast forward to the 40 second spot we are building the cabin I lived in for those 14 years. the rest of the video is building the larger home. Additional alaskan video can be found at kl1hbalaska/youtube
