This week, Bought See-thru garbage bags....Changing from old ways...

Whereas in the past, at one time,
we (people in general) would value our privacy of what is in our trash,

(therefore always got large white or green, opaque trash bags,
or before that, used opaque garbage cans and containers)

nowadays, there's a need for others to see for themselves,

that there is not anything horrid, scary or dangerous in our trash,
(in other peoples' trash, in other words)

and in addition, they need to be able to see for themselves,
that we are not disposing of some item in an inappropriate manner,
such as a small appliance in with regular garbage.

We even need to put shredded recyclable paper,
into the transparent bags, so others are not afraid to open it, and that they are assured it really is paper in there.

Even when donating old clothing to thrift shops, now,
I see that we should use the transparent bags,

so that no worker needs to be nervous about opening a box or bag, that they can't see first, what's in it, and what is not.

Who knew?

An additional new reason I thought this is needed nowadays,
though it wasn't ever, years ago....

is that, if we appear on someone's surveillance camera, hauling one or more,
large dark green trash bags,

and if something untoward should be found or might have occurred, in the area,

then how could we prove we were not the ones who had left those other items?

I put sharp things (pens, pencils, needles, wire) into plastic jugs and broken glass is wrapped in newspaper for the garbage guys. They wear heavy gloves but you never know. I sometimes tape a caution broken glass sign on the bag if I am feeling magnanimous. From what I see, they just grab the bag and toss in the truck as quickly as they can. No need to worry about them finding severed heads or cans of atomic waste until maybe the guy tears one open with the bulldozer at the landfill.

I'm sure I never have given trash bags much thought except perhaps wondering how strong they were, would they handle a load if my trash
or will they tear or burst open if I drop this large chunk of too ripe watermelon into the bag. Of course I'm talking about the thirteen gallon household white opaque trash bags. I never considered a privacy issue with trash. But, upon thinking about the issue, you don't need to see my trash. Be suspicious all you want, call the cops. No clear plastic bags for me. Anyway, I thought we were getting rid of plastics and was going to clean up all the oceans and all this sea salt of plastic wastes and micro plastics.

I use the big, thick, black "contractor" trash bags. It's nobody's business what is in my trash bags, like body parts or nothing.

From a lot of "true crime" shows I watch, my concern would be my computer- I do lots of work projects on odd subjects, a couple of recent examples "cleaning up after dead bodies." People would probably get the wrong idea if they found those things in my searches. :p

I buy the white 13 gallon kitchen bags from Aldi's. I don't get a choice in color or no color. But really I value my privacy for some reason and like the white ones..there isn't anything my neighbors could not or should not see but still I value my privacy :ROFLMAO: :giggle:

It sounds like a sign of the times that we live in.

The sports stadium in my city has implemented a clear bag rule for people bringing items into various events so the contents can easily be verified as the people pass through security.

I will have to start purchasing trash bags when the plastic bag ban is fully implemented in my area on March 1st.

I will look and see if clear trash bags are available at a comparable price to the others.

I don't mind using clear trash bags if it makes life easier and safer for the people tasked with handling my trash.

I'll start using see through garbage bags when "they" start wearing see through clothes. Nothing to hide, is nothing to hide.
