Do you feel like you're getting softer as you age?

I don't like those animal shows on TV. I like watching the animals, I just don't like it when they wind up as supper. And those real crime shows, I can't take it when someone goes missing. You know they aren't with us anymore. I find myself avoiding violent programs. I don't know if I'm getting softer. But maybe I am?

Absolutely, and throwing in the effects of these hormone shot I have to take makes it worse for me. Having your T levels taken to zero make me pretty adverse to violence on TV.

Yea, can't watch the crocs eat the wildebeest, which is a stable on the nature shows. Nor the lions eat the antelope.
I want to holler, Run little antelope, run

Bit then we know of where our hamburgers come from-hypocrisy?

Pretty much the same as above, hard to accept . Have to wonder sometimes why creatures were created or evolved to eat each other. There have been quite a few cases of serious animal and human abuse in this state. I abhor it & I have to look away from it. Im not in a position any more to do anything to try to help prevent it.

I find I'm less tolerant now with human behaviour. Animal abuse I cannot abide and try to avoid watching anything which might feature it. Why hunting is promoted on tv, I cannot understand. These are living creatures and have as much right to life as humans. We can survive perfectly well without meat.

I'm the same way. I can't even watch a lion bringing down prey.
I just don't watch anything that makes me uncomfortable.

dont watch any animals tv that spells cruelty a sit breaks me up /and seeing I worked for RSPCA for 10 years I saw and heard all about people and their sick disgusting ways -they shouldn't own a worm - my self I would in prison them all' all and throw away the bloody key, getting soft not sure iam t the moment -maybe in time with life in general ….........….

Yea, those animal shows have always bothered me, I have to change the channel always, or get up and do something else when they are on... and only certain shows I can't watch anymore like Criminal Minds, that freaks me way out, bothers me for days...
Hey Mike, your least favorite show is gone....I watched the last two episodes of Criminal Minds last week....it ended on a bittersweet note with all the cast members moving on in life....now don't be watching the re-runs that will freak you out again....you don't need that ;)

There's that true crime channel "ID", where they portray real crimes. You know, they are not going to find the cute 13 year old alive right after the last commercial break. In real life , that's when the perp gives up the body. I have a tough time watching those shows, even when it's the only thing on.

I could never tolerate those animals in the wild shows or animal or child abuse.

But I think I've softened in other ways with regard to certain behaviors. Don't know if I've become enlightened, or I just don't care anymore. Which might even be the same thing.

is it because life becomes more precious to us as we age?
not only our life, but the life of others-

answer this-if we cannot tolerate viewing animals being killed, then
why do the killings in our society, on a daily basis, not even result in a
raised eyebrow?
just wondering?

Oh there is plenty of eyebrows raised. Gun rights are a different story. It's a work in progress.
