COVID and senior meal delivery

Today when I picked up the meals to deliver, the meal center supervisor handed me a bunch of nitrile gloves and informed me that the drivers now have to wear the gloves when delivering and change them between each stop. They were way too large for me and made my hands sweat. No masks, though (yet). They were also talking about the proposal of preparing a week of meals for the clients ahead of time and just making one delivery a week to minimize client contact.

Overboard or justified precautions?

It's a shame because I imagine some clients are lonely and look forward to the little bit of conversation, but it would probably be best to ring the bell and leave the delivery at the door. I'm having groceries delivered and have asked for them to be deposited on my front porch. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Unfortunately, we can't just leave meals. We have to make visual or other physical contact to make sure the clients are okay. Plus leaving them on a porch invites spoilage if they aren't retrieved right away.

If I were receiving the meals , I personally would appreciate seeing that the people who deliver,
are taking the extra care and precaution.
