I had an appt Thursday (3/19), My dr office called me today to let me know due to Coronavirus they need to reschedule my appt.. will not be until the end of April. I informed the rep this was fine but I do need a refill for my muscle relaxers. I was going to get a refill on Thurs.. will see if he call in a refill at the pharmacy.

I hope they will do that refill for you. Mine refilled 3 prescriptions today.

I've read that hospitals may cancel or not schedule elective surgical procedures owing to the need to accommodate Coronavirus patients. I have a standing appointment for a review of meds and labs in May, and hope that they'll at least renew my meds if they have to cancel my appointment...

All non urgent operations in our hospitals due to take place after April 14th in the UK have been cancelled or postponed .

Many people have already been waiting a long time for these surgeries..like cataract surgery, or Hip replacement for example.. ( classed as non urgent) .. I too have surgery booked for the 29th of April, but I'm expecting a cancellation to arrive any time...

Mr. R has a Dermatologist appt. this morning. I figured they would cancel it but they just called him yesterday and asked a million questions about his current health and where he had been the past few weeks. Out of Country? Out of County? (We,so far, have no cases here. At least no confirmed cases.Only a matter of time though.)

On the other hand,I talked to my sister yesterday, the one who is terminal with COPD. She,of course, cannot get this virus-she could never survive it. She got sick over the weekend and had to go to the hospital, but they treated her in the parking lot. Would not let her come into the hospital.

My BIL is also not well.I had first talked to him on Monday and he sounded "different",his voice I mean. Turns out he had to have a feeding tube put in 10 days ago as he was down to (gasp!) 88 pounds! I was horrified when he told me that. I haven`t seen him since last summer and he was very thin then-his usual weight is probably around 165 pounds and I guessed he was probably around 125. He said he just doesn`t eat but didn`t tell me why.

My sister filled me in yesterday though. He has a bone spur on his upper spine that is growing and blocking his esophagus. So he chokes when he eats. How bizarre is that?

Anyway,he had an appt. scheduled with a new Neurosurgeon for today but they first called and rescheduled it to a Facetime appt.,then calle back and said they couldn`t do that because he was a new patient. So he now has an April 7th appt. My sister doesn`t feel that anyone will risk operating on him though so he will probably always have to have a feeding tube. He will be 83 in June.

My doctor's phone announcement tells patients Not to come in if they feel sick
or have the symptoms. Never thought I'd hear that.

In my city today they let two guys out of going to jail because the doctors didn't want to process them. They walked out with gloves and masks and had their pictures taken for the newspapers.

Now that's serious stuff.

I was in my usual salon yesterday getting my hair cut (I know,I shouldn`t be out but she`s a friend and I know she will probably have to close her salon in the next few days-and her SO owns a restaurant so has had to shut down)Anyway, the other girl in the salon is a barber and her husband is in Law Enforcement,so all of the local cops get their haircuts there. Two of them were in there when I came in,then her husband came in (with doughnuts lol) and he said they are not taking anyone into custody right now-unless it`s for a really serious felony. We have a local Sheriff`s Arrest Log online and I had noticed there were no arrests posted for the past several days. They did say they are writing many citations though, which is what they usually do for misdemenor crimes now. Sounds like they are doing that for some felonies as well.

I tried to re-schedule today's appointment but office said Medicare will not reimburse the doctor for time spent writing script. unless they have actually seen the patient.

My situation is somewhat the opposite. I had an appointment to see my eye specialist in May but within the last week or so, my left eye (formerly my "good" eye) has gotten blurrier. I was pleasantly surprised that I could get an appointment for the end of this week. I would have been worried to death if they made me wait until May. After I confirmed my appointment via text, they sent a message detailing under what circumstances patients should not keep their appointments (based on possible virus symptoms).

Did it mention the elderly should stay home and not keep their visit @OneEyedDiva?

The dentist's office called this morning and cancelled my upcoming dental appointments, the first one of which was Friday. They're rescheduling starting in June, and we'll be out of state by then. Oh, well, looking at October now.

I called the surgeon's office about my late-April eye surgery and they were a little "cagey" about it, but they are cancelling all surgeries for the next three weeks. I have to get a "clearance for surgery" no later than 11 days before the surgery and I'll probably not be able to get an appointment for that from my regular doctor, either. Looks like October will be a busy month.

I had hoped to go to India with my cousins in October, but I think that trip isn't gonna happen for any of us.

No PnT..they mentioned if you've returned from a high risk country as defined by the CDC, had contact with someone who has the virus, have a cough or fever...things like that.

Jujube...I wanted to go for a cleaning soon but figured my dentist's office is probably going to do what yours is doing. Unfortunately, I think you're right about your trip but holding on to hope, maybe things will be under control by October and travel restrictions will be lifted. :sneaky:

I went to MyChart and wrote my doctor a letter about the lab tests and 3/27 appointment:

Dear Dr. #####,

I have upcoming lab tests from you and also an appointment later this month. In the wake of the Coronavirus, I regret I have to say that I am not going to come to them this month. I will reschedule and it's usually that it takes 3 mos. to see you at a later date.

I have 2 underlying conditions, and cannot afford to get this virus. I know for a fact that people who are sick will cough in public places as I have encountered them many times before in the past and also just this past weekend. Waiting for the labs and in the waiting area for the appointment in my opinion could make me get this virus. So many have it.

I have 3 pets who depend on me every day to care for them and if I should end up in the hospital I have no one to care for them for my brother who used to live here moved to another state over a year ago. There is no one else to care for them. If it were just me, I would come to get my tests and appointment this month.

I am now only going out for prescriptions and necessities.

Thank you for refilling my prescription and will see you when I reschedule. I will also get the tests. Probably on the same day as the appointment because I no longer have a car and use cab service. It costs me too much extra to come 2 different days.

Sincerely,

Ruth #####

That was my letter to him. He will probably respond but don't know what he will say. I am not feeling bad at this time but am not going to put myself in harm's way.
