Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I've got some money 'cause I just got paid
How I wish I had someone to talk to
I'm in an awful way.

Well, I didn't just get paid:( Talking to the TV just doesn't quite cut it, nor does talking to the cat.

What do y'all do on Saturday night? Dinner out? A movie?

What do other single people do?

Not single here, but don't do much on Saturday nights. We had a BBQ, hubby made some rib-eye steaks, was cleaning up in the kitchen and put on the TV. Weekends are terrible for TV shows, so many murder-related Datelines, and cold case type shows that I can stomach. PBS has had the BeeGees on for the past few weeks, they're good but I couldn't sit through one show, never mind watch repeats, lol.

Thanks for the earworm, now I have that song running through my head. :D Hopefully there's some wild singles here with a less boring answer. :)

Tonight I'm watching tv with my dog. But........I'm fine with it. Some nights I'm out with friends. Saturday night is just another night of the week to me.

Oh, how I remember that song by Cat Stevens.

Had it on 8 track back in the 70's... Cat Stevens Greatest Hits

Used to ride around listening to music whenever I didn't have anything to do at night & didn't feel like sitting home alone.

These days my Sat nights are a combination of online forum posting & the Saturday night Britcom lineup on one of our local PBS stations.

Usually have a good "junk food" meal, too. Pizza, chicken strips & tater tots, couple of burgers & fires, maybe. And my one soda pop for the week.

Anyone still awake after reading that???? :zz:

SB, how's your earworm this morning? LOL!

MrJim, your Saturday night life in the fast lane sounds just about as exciting as mine:D Sam Cooke first did that song in about 1963...I liked Cat Stevens' version better and had it on a big old clunky 8-track tape, too. Those things sure did take up a lot of room in the car.

The only cure I could figure out for the boredom of yet another Saturday with nowhere to go and nothing to do...went to bed early. That worked just fine for Saturday night, but meant that I'd be up early on Sunday morning and I am:( 6am on Sunday morning is just too darned early!

I very rarely go out on a Saturday night; but always on a Friday!
just with good friends...whoever is about; we have done this for over 5 years now...so Saturdays don't matter.

LOL.....same as you, Georgia, except it is the dog that I talk to.

Got through another one. Now to get through Sunday/Sunday night... During the week I'm usually too bushed to care about being alone. I used to wonder why my MIL hated weekends. Now I know.

Vivjen, If I had friends, I'd go out with them any night of the week. Funny thing about my MIL was that she had lots of friends and wouldn't go out with them.

THIS is one reason I'm darn glad I'm married. Wife feels the same way. This last Friday night, we went to a Sports Bar and watched NFL. Lots of young kids there, but we had fun anyway. I talked to a few of them "kids" and they loved how I talked for my age (LOL). Yesterday, Saturday, we rented the movie "Heaven Is For Real" and really enjoyed watching that. Sometimes on Saturday night, we go to our local Buffet and indulge in a good dinner. After we first met, it was rodeo, rodeo, rodeo (Friday/Saturday day-night performances), Country nightclub sometimes. My wife loved her Western wear, rodeo and dancing.

Now, before I met her, I was hitting Saturday/Sunday rodeo's and going to a couple favorite Country nightclubs. When I was in my 30's-early 40's, I was going to Square Dances and a few Country nightclubs on the weekends......before a "horse and rope" came into being for me. When it came to Friday and Saturday night, I was GONE! Except for the time I had my left arm in a sling due to a cracked clavicle bone. Then it was tv.

What would I do today, at 65 yrs. old, if I was single (of which I'm glad I'm not).........knowing my personality (outgoing), I'd try to find something to do, so I could be around people!

Place a Personal Ad in local newspaper or magazine and see what happens. I did that and wound up married........worked for me!!

Most papers/magazines have a "Personal Ad" section. The person reads your ad, sends a letter/reply to paper/magazine and they place it in another envelope (w/your address) on it and send it to you. Back then, I told about myself, type of lady I was looking for, my TRUE age, TRUE weight, TRUE looks. Like I said, it worked for me. Actually, my wife had placed a Personal Ad as well, but I didn't see it. Sure glad she seen mine. I don't see anything dangerous about doing it. But, then again, you may not have the same type of personality that I do.

An ad in the paper? Darned dangerous in this day and age!

Georgia; if it is any comfort; it is now Sunday night, and I am watching a Columbo....the cats aren't talking to me!

"...Just one more thing"!

I never knew that Sam Cooke (or anybody for that matter) had done that song first.

Now I'm off to YouTube to see if I can find it!!!!

I think the guy is (or could be) looking for some type of companionship........a person whom he can talk to and they will talk back to him. TV and animals don't fit that area. However, I don't know how much "entertainment" is around where he lives. During the years I was single, if there was no "entertainment" around where I lived, I'd find "entertainment" out of the area. But, for the most part, I always lived somewhere where I could find "entertainment". I just simply wasn't a "stay at home on Friday/Saturday night" type person. Of course, during those years I was single, I was younger also.

Yes, to back then and yes to today (teeth and hair). Guess I'm lucky that I've never had any teeth rot and/or fall out, only taken out by a dentist........and then, only on the bottom in the back (not noticeable). I'm also lucky, for my age, I've got a full head of hair.

And you probably had all of your teeth and hair, but maybe you still do...
