No Card? No Service!

Could not understand why??? the gas bar had such a long lineup the other day, and not for gas.

Went to the adjoining store, lottery counter was closed as most use cash there so people were using the gas bar for lottery purchases. I stood in line feeling sorry for the extremely busy clerk. Everyone wanted a crack at buying the sixty million dollar ticket. Will be worse now, up to 70 mil.

I work p/t at a large grocery chain store. Our cashiers change gloves after each customer. It has been the week from hell working. I start at 6 a.m. and seniors get to shop from 6-7 before the store opens to everyone.

I work in the nest dept. our truck normally arrives at 5 a.m., so we don’t have much time before the doors open. Yesterday, we didn’t receive any eggs. You would have thought the world was ending. Today, was a better day.

Overall, people have been OK. Some better than others and some very rude and disrespectful.

Same egg situation in Ohio. My chicken-raising daughter has been giving eggs away to neighbors. I think, perhaps, that eggs are desired because home-bound folks are going back to baking.

I've got loads of eggs... 2 dozen in my fridge..., didn't stock up , we still have eggs in our supermarket, didn't realise there was any shortage. I hope people haven't stocked up on eggs just to not use them and they get wasted..

Wow - I'm not a gambler, but I would think that it would be better to invest in a necessity of life at this point.

Went to my local convenience store today. They have the entrance barricaded. You tell them what you want and they go and get it.Happy with cash.Fully stocked.
Had a message from ASDA.While they would prefer contactless payment(even over credit cards) they will accept cash. But next time I am in there I will use the self service

Eggs last way beyond the use by date.I always pop my out of date ones in a jug of water. If they sink they are fine to use.But they are in short supply in places.A friend on another forum can’t find any.

Still, No Toilet Paper.....They said tomorrow if we are lucky....
I feel your pain. We were down to one roll, but since they started a limit what people could buy, which shut the hoarders out, we now have toilet paper. Distilled water was hard to get, but by going to several stores we now have enough. We also have bottled water, not our brand as with the TP, but it works.

You might ask the store to only sell one package to a customer if they are not already doing this.

I think it might be a shortage of meat. We mostly buy ground beef but couldn’t get it at costco which I found strange since they had roasts and butchers, lol. Our neighborhood market has ground beef till about three-they have butchers as well. They run out of steaks and roasts earlier.

We can find eggs at some stores but not others. Still no bananas in Texas.

That's what I do when I have a question about my eggs, if they float or stand upright, I toss them. I have been marking every third egg in a carton with the exp. date....so I can keep track better on how old they are.

having always worked as a professional all your life serving the public as a Pilot ...and now working in a completely different method of serving the public , you must see a side of people you've rarely seen before..
You are spot on. I never knew 'some' people could be so vicious. We even had to usher one man out of the store for stealing stuff out of another person's cart when they weren't looking. There is a story on AOL right now that somewhere here in PA, a woman went into a supermarket and spit into their produce causing $35K worth of veggies to get tossed. Our Governor, Tom Wolfe, who I happen to know personally, made the statement on TV earlier this week that anyone caught doing these acts will be punished in accordance with the "Terrorism Act." "Good-bye Sally. See you in about ten years."

Today, we started a new policy. The cashiers will now only use a hand sanitizer after serving each customer at the checkout. Things are slowly returning to normal in the grocery business.

When I flew, I was most always treated with respect by the passengers. They came across as very likable people and seemed to be glad to be on the plane. Oh, yes, a few just wanted to sleep or get to their destination, but most of the passengers were very polite, even to one another. We did have a few instances where some may have been disruptive, but overall, most were calm and glad to be taking a trip. The youngsters were generally excited and most of them enjoyed coming onto the cockpit. Those days are gone, but I enjoyed seeing the excitement in their eyes when they sat in my seat.

although the water /sink /float tests works fine there's a much quicker way to tell if you're eggs are still fresh which I've used just about all my life after learning from my Professional cook ex mother-in-law

Hold one end of the ovoid to your closed lips, firmly but not too hard.. for about 10 seconds..then turn the egg over and hold the other end to your closed lips again for about 10 seconds. One end will be distinctly warm and the other will be distinctly cooler.. . if they are , they are fresh.. if they are the same temperature, they're off...

Now you'll have the shock of knowing that some of those same passengers will be stealing from other people's trolleys or spitting in the food.... different level of respect or even manners when they're not relying on you not to kill them...

Contactless payment is OK up to £30, but I shop every fortnight and usually spend a lot more in most shops. So far there's been no problem paying by card or cash (although this might change).

I went shopping on Tuesday and with a couple of exceptions, most stores were getting back to normal. Bread flour and pasta were still proving difficult to find.

Yesterday it was announced that contactless payments
have been temorarily increased to £45 Capn.

there's definitely no shortage of bananas here, no mention that there will be either... . I hope not because I use a hand of bananas every week just for me

I stopped getting teh big bananas hollydolly, there is some
sort of blight/disease and they tend to be black inside, I try
to get the packets of small Fairtrade ones while they are still
green, they are OK.

I thought that they might grow bananas in Texas!

I didn't know that Mike...well I've been having the banana go all brown and mushy inside when I've only had them a couple of days and that's been happening for weeks, and I just thought the stores were holding onto them in cold storage until just before they're ripe.... I haven't read anything in the media about it , have you ?

My daughter complains that she can’t get bananas, in Texas, and she wants to bake banana bread. We have plenty of bananas in Utah, but can’t get flour. LOL, I don’t care. I don’t like bananas and I don‘t bake.

Boy! Am I glad Iive in a small town. People in cities are going crazy. They have no common sense; if they ever had it, but I doubt it.
