If people start running out of money and food to shelter and feed their families, these troops will have another difficult task...keeping order, although the article claims they were not mobilized for martial law. I read a news report today that said some people may not get their stimulus payments until September. Six months from now?! In the meantime, millions are having trouble filing for unemployment. Last count I heard was 10 million applied in the last two weeks. One woman and a man on the news said it literally took them days to be able to do so via the website, which crashes. People have waited on lines for days at the unemployment offices. Imagine how long it's going to take to process all those claims!

The National Guard does much more than 'play dress-up on weekends'
Police officers are well trained & even they are unable to prevent crimes in most cases. The best they can do is take a report after the crime & call the people who clean up the mess.
That's "Reality."

I'm parent of a National Guard soldier and a police officer- that, actually, is 'reality.'
Absolutely. That's why your view of their capabilities is rather distorted & exaggerated.
I'm not trying to minimize their dedication or importance. But they can only do so much. They are not able to be there to prevent most crimes; they make a report, call detectives & the coroner if necessary.

I read the folks who might be receiving these paper checks by as late as September do not have their banking info and/or tax returns available to the government, as opposed to those receiving govt benefits where its direct deposited....not sure if this is accurate tho.....

Yes, that's what I've been reading too PnT: I just saw on the news yesterday that they suggested people who don't have to file or didn't file yet file a simple return online ASAP so that their bank information will be on file. But there are many who don't even have bank accounts. So unfortunately some of the people who need the stimulus most will be the last to get theirs.

Now with moderate temperatures in most of the nation they can be used for support and logistics. As the temperatures heat up so will the public. Sooner or later people will start 'purging'.
