Fondant Cookies/candy

A woman always brought these to the local seniors Easter party. She calls them "wintergreen fondant cookies", but I think they are more of a candy. Since the senior's was cancelled this month, she made them for her family and posted it on Facebook.
Has anyone ever had them? They looked good, but to me they had the consistency and flavor of toothpaste. They're okay, but I wouldn't make them for myself or even want the recipe.

Not my thing, but - Something I relate to Catholicism and religious holidays - Honey Nougat Almond things with a Host-like wafer - YUMMY! My neighbor re-gifted me a box last year (she got it from a client and her family didn't like them - I was hoping for more! Ah - looked for a recipe and found out they are: Torrone (Italian Nut and Nougat Confection) Recipe - Allrecipes.com.html - The wafer is referred to as "edible rice paper!)

Deb,I've seen them made for wedding favors also. I think they are to sweet and like you said the consistencyrasberry jelly rings (800x800).jpg of toothpaste.
Empty,that nougat looks interesting.
A candy that I love that they have out for the Jewish holidays are chocolate covered Raspberry jells. I can eat a whole box!

yes they're popular here, they're peppermint fondant (which is why you think they taste of toothpaste) but usually covered in a dark chocolate coating here...

Hi Ruth - The Torrone (Italian Nut and Nougat Confection) isn't very sweet, which I prefer. The recipe looks like too much work for ME. Way too much standing and stirring! But, they are available online. I don't know the difference between the "jells" and fondant, but if you incorporate nuts in anything, I will probably eat it! So, I would probably like your ring jells - I would just melt a walnut on top (-:

I'd like to have the recipe..

I always thought fondant candies were used for the variety of color available rather then to be enjoyed. IOW as decoration. Although dipped in dark chocolate, I can eat almost anything in a sweet emergency.
