California teen commits suicide over stress of shutdown/virus some say

This has to be such a hard time for teenagers. They should be experiencing their friends, parties, dances,(if they still do that) crushes, first loves, kissing; all the wonders and excitement of being young. I feel sad for them.
This girl? Hard to know all the factors contributing to her decision. but it's sad.

I imagine she had some underlying depression before the coronavirus crisis, and the additional stress was too much for her to bear. Sorry that her parents didn't give her the extra attention and support she needed during this trying time. May she rest peacefully.

Isolation is not a natural state of being. I've heard suicide discussed by many people in recent weeks. It's tragic.

A possible contributing factor:
Depression & may have been on prescribed antidepressants. They are prescribed much too often & come with a warning:
"This drug may increase suicidal and homicidal tendencies in young people."

A very sensible reaction, seabreeze....

There has been a lot of discussion here in Houston with the police department. They say domestic violence is up since we are all at home now with each other. Teenagers take things more seriously we think. Their little brains are still developing and she needed more than those around could give her.
I can see where domestic violence could increase in an already tense situation. We are going to be coping with the after effects of this for a long time in so many ways.

So hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel when you are young, a few months seems like a lifetime .....
