"Old flames"

During this current crisis it has been speculated upon in the newspqpers as to how many people might feel tempted to contact old girlfriends/boyfriends or partners. The advice seemed to be "not to do so", because whatever caused the breakdown of the relationship in the first place still remains they said.

I was tempted myself, as we are in such unprecedented times, to contact an old girlfriend and left a message. When she rang back last night we had a friendly chat, although she reminded me I wasn't to call at the end of the conversation, but I did call her an " Old flame" although I'm not sure whether she liked me saying it or not (you can't always read a woman's mind can you!). :) .

My ex wife died two years ago - at 67. Most of her family is also gone.
My ex girlfriend got married 6 years ago. She contacts me occasionally to tell me how unhappy she is with him, but I don't contact her. I did, however, extend my sympathies to her husband.

It's funny that I saw this now. Yesterday the boy I was dating for 3yrs when I was a teenager and I broke up with and met my now Husband contacted me on Facebook yesterday asking to be my friend. I thought about it for awhile because he was a nice guy, but I refused the request. I felt I would be disrespecting my Husband if I accepted.

You did the right thing... 👍👍

When my hubby and I separated for a few years.. I cross path with an old flame. We were both excited to reconnect.. Long story short, so glad hubby and I got back together. But I must say, him and I had fun and he was one guy that could make me smile without trying too hard and I did the same with him. He's been through quite a bit in his life...he use to tell me I know him better than his mom. He's a pretty good guy but need to work on his internal self...which he avoids.. he says its too painful. Again, so glad hubby and I decided to work on our marriage.

HAHA. I just remembered an episode of "The Jeffersons."
George ran into an old girlfriend he was seeing before he got married. She knew he was married but she wanted to have an affair with him & also came up with a fake story about needing several thousand dollars for her "sick mother's surgery."

George told her he wasn't interested in a relationship with her because he was happily married.
She asked, "What's wrong with burning the candle at both ends?"
He said, "Somebody's gonna get burned."
