Do you do things so automatically that you forgot you did them?

No, I'm not one of those old fogies, youngsters make fun of.

You're very lucky. My wife did the same once and the end result was, no kitchen, living room, sun room, and dining room. Of course, the rest of the house was smoke and water damaged to say nothing of the holes in the roof the firefighters had to make. ☹
Aftermath of the kitchen.

Yes, very lucky indeed. Lucky that there was only water on the stove - nothing flammable. Lucky that there was not enough water to "boil over," put out the burner, and fill the house with gas. Lucky that is was a heavy cast iron pan that could take the heat. Lucky that I got home quickly.

Ruth, yep, I do too. For me, some of it is just the repetitiveness of everything and some is being distracted by doing many things at once. I've put some safeguards in place such as always using a timer when I have something on the stove and always pulling out the coffee maker plug when I take my last cup. I remember my grandmother having little routines to remember things, and my mother also double checks herself for everything.

I usually forget my iPad is on charge, always mean to unplug it before going to bed, but nine times out of ten there it is, fully charged and still plugged in the next morning....

I imagine we’re all rather preoccupied at the moment, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it !
I never charge anything overnight.Just in case...

Oh yeah: Did I close the garage door, did we lock the back door, is the cat in or out, did I take my pills, did I clean the litter box, did I haul the garbage out to the street, how come that item that was on the shopping list didn't hop into the basket like it was supposed to, did we start the dishwasher, do the sprinklers come on tonight or tomorrow night?
…… I could go on and on, and I doubt that it is entirely caused by getting older.

Thank the Lord for modern I Phones with their calendars which work so much better than that Day Timer I used to drag around.

I will sometimes prepare the birds' food and fail to put it in the enclosure, because my coffee is ready. Somewhere around 10 AM, they lose patience with me and their squawks bring me back into focus - I have set it on the table, in their line of sight... I feel so guilty!
That's pretty funny.

Good thing you didn't teach them to talk.

I talk to myself so that I'll remember things. I guess that proves I'm nuts 🥴
That makes two of us, Pinky, or maybe just you and me, or both of us too.......hang on, I'l start again, I may have got that wrong.......doooooooooh. 😊
