Hello Everyone

Something about me: I was born in Nagano, Japan and at the ripe old age of 16 I told my Mom and Dad I wanted to go to America and pursue my career dreams. After many days of talking my dad gave me some money to get me started and off I went to Los Angeles, California to start my own business as a baker.

When I got to L.A. I rented this awful apartment and immediately started making fliers to promote what I wanted to do and my business. I then started baking cakes and really in the beginning those cakes are what I mostly ate myself to survive. Once actually clients came along to sample my cakes and I got some actually business I could eat other stuff.

So it was difficult at first, but soon my business took off and I was out of that awful apartment and into a better place and had my own place of business. For my whole life I was married to my Wedding Cake Business and that is why I believe I never made it down the altar. That is fine now, I am now 75 and retired and now can relax, travel to wherever I want to go and do whatever I want. I do and did have men in my life to keep me company, but never went down the aisle.

So I am here since the past many weeks like most of us have been isolated in our homes so why not meet some other friendly people who are around my age. My name is Miyoko and I am 75 years old. My friends call me Yo-Yo.

Hey Yo-Yo....lovely introduction thank you.. and welcome to the forum from London England...

You'll find lots of new friends here from many parts of the globe .... :giggle:

I also imagine that the cakes you presently bake, would be much smaller,
than those Wedding cakes were! :)

Oh how different the recipe proportions must have been! ;)

Keesha, first thank you for the welcome. My favorite is a Raspberry Chambord filled Yellow Cake that usually goes Raspberry Cream Cheese Icing. Why is it my favorite well mostly because it tastes delicious, but the combination just works and it is not too overwhelming.
😋 That sounds so good.
Wonderful combo.
Enjoy your stay.

A big welcome to you Yo-Yo from Northern New Jersey. I do hope you enjoy our company here. Not much of a cake eater myself other than a slice of carrot cake or cheese cake. I wasn't much of a baker. My mom was terrific. But, can I cook, look out Emeril. ;)
Thank you for the welcome. I do have to give my baking and cooking knowledge credit to my wonderful mother who expected me in the kitchen with her at a very young age even if I was just cracking eggs. Mom taught me so much. I love carrot cake and cheese cake.
