A nice pair of legs - opinions differ

A friend of mine who is a teacher, "and suffers a but with her weight", tells me what is considered desirable in women's legs has changed since I were a lad, (apparently Sarah Jessica Parker isn't considered " bandy legged anymore", as Terry Wigan called her!).

So there you have it, I'm told by a woman who teaches at an all girls school, what "us men" are supposed to like best nowadays, (wideish gap at top of leg, between the two, if you see what I mean, is now in vogue).

I raise this matter, "purely out of scientific interest", (to see how many can remember Kim Novak's legs, or Rachel Welsh's legs, way back when?)! šŸ’ƒ .

Frankly, I think too much stock is placed in what's popular at any given point in time.. but the concern should be the effects "popular" or "ideal" has on young girls... the "gap" you mentioned, for example, there are actually doctors who perform surgery on young teenage girls so they can have that..

Similarly, in the early 1960s, one definition of ideal was this young woman in beach movies: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annette_Funicello. A few years later, this girl came on the scene as a top fashion model: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twiggy. And when ultra-skinny was "in," there were comments in surfing magazines saying Annette was much-too-overweight!
Well, the tide has turned in the opposite direction: https://woman.thenest.com/weight-height-average-american-woman-1871.html. Recently, I've even seen websites and ads on t.v. for "dating" sites presenting individuals well past plus-size, with remarks 'This is what real women look like.'
It wasn't good for young girls to starve themselves to try to look like Twiggy- and it's just as unhealthy for kids to think they won't be 'real women' if they don't weigh over 300 pounds.

Personally, I think the overall message should be "Be your best self- and your health should be your top priority."

Whoops! I just read the words under the photo saying it IS Kim Novak. For some reason I was focused on the photo only. She did pose for Playboy. I remember it well.
Probably best for everyone's blood pressure to avoid any links to more provocative pictures, though there may have to be more study, and comparisons with, say Jennifer Lopez, if she's still considered an icon(?)! 🤫😮🤤 .

They haven't had a new model in years. So we're pretty much stuck with the same old style. Plus, in order to get a new model, we have to retool the factory process, and there seems to be some reluctance to do that.

Can we learn to stick with "old models", or "new models" looking just like their mothers used to look in the legs department, (that would be my choice anyway 🄵)? .

My wife and I belonged to a "Naturism Community" in Florida for about seven years, so there isn't much that I haven't seen in the way of comparison really. However, I never figured out which one had the uglier body, the really humongous woman or the really humongous man. We even had an 83 year old Great Grandmother that was a member and yes, she was a true naturist. Luckily for her, she told me that she always wore plenty of sunscreen with a very high rating. Something around 50-75 and even 100 at times with UVA & UVB protection. These both are hugely important if any of us Seniors still hit the beaches, which my wife and I do. My wife did have two cancerous moles removed. However, we still hit the beaches, but put on sunscreen every hour now. Probably more than necessary, but protection is seriously important.

There is a naturist park in the Poconos, which is about 3-4 hours away for me to drive. We went there one time and thought that it was very uncomfortable due to the fact that it appeared to us that the people that were there, only wanted to get naked. They weren't practicing true naturism.

Here is the site for where my wife and I were members:

Okay, so far I've seen some legs, but what about the "gap", Graham?

Referring to your OP... "wideish gap at top of leg, between the two, if you see what I mean".

Or are we just talking about legs in general?

Yes, exactly, that's what I thought this was all about.
Ah now, I haven't explained myself very well once again, sooooo as far as I'm concerned the thread is a slightly titillating consideration of all things associated with legs someone or other might think looks good. . (put up a photo of "bandy legged Sarah" for a gap, if you like?)
