Discussing interior decorating with a friend by e mail this morning, I said I had always done my own but the last time I paid a man to do it, good job I check my mails before sending them as, the predictive text had decided I had not ‘paid’ him but ‘laid’ him to do my decorating.....

Fortunately I'm sure it never crossed your mind, but it does happen often enough I'm sure! o_O:giggle: .

I love predictive text....just for the laugh factor if nothing else.

Have you ever played predictive text games? Here are a couple for you.

Type "In 2020 I am going to.." and then let your predictive text feature take you wherever it wants to go!

Here's mine. "In 2020 I am going to go hoe tonight and I have a lot to say to y'all so I'm gonna write about the weekend." 🤷‍♀️

Here's another. Type "I smell like.."

"I smell like that stuff in my house with my Mom"

One more: "I'm sorry but I really can't .......... wait for ya'll next year. ."

Thanks, Ronni - I now have a new diversion!

The only time it's a problem is when I'm typing into the browser to perform a search.

I've looked for a setting in Google to turn it off but so far the only information I've been able to find seems to be out of date.

What is predictive text? - Definition from WhatIs.com
whatis.techtarget.com › definition › predictive-text

Predictive text is an input technology that facilitates typing on a mobile device by suggesting words the end user may wish to insert in a text field. ... Because the end user simply taps on a word instead of typing it it out on a soft keyboard, predictive text can significantly speed up the input process.

echopedia explains Predictive Text
Predictive text is primarily designed to reduce the number of key strokes required to write a word or phrase. Typically, predictive text works on the principles of linguistics, and may also use a database of entries or terms the user has entered in the past.
Predictive text has gained some infamy for its frequent failure to choose the appropriate word in favor of something that's entirely inappropriate for the situation. Images of smartphone message strings that show hilarious predictive text failures have become a popular Internet meme.

We had a class reunion meeting a few years back and I was sitting next to a pretty nice former schoolmate. There were some light snacks on the table when she leaned over to me and said, "Would you like a cookie?" I asked her, "What did you say?" and she repeated it and I started laughing like all get out. She asked me what I was laughing about? I said, "I thought you said, "Would I like a quickie?"

True story.....Cross my heart!
