When You Were A Teen How Much Time Did You Spend On The Phone?

I never liked talking on the phone but in my teen years I had a steady girl for 3 1/2 years during high school and we talked a few times a week and also talked briefly with my buddies but nothing where my folks had to yell at me to "get off the phone!"

When I was in high school, I was on the phone every single night with my steady boyfriend.

I spent minimal time on the phone as a teenager. In the pre-cell phone era, my parents had but one phone in the whole house situated centrally where my mother could and did listen to every call coming in or going out, often offering commentary as such calls were in progress. With zero privacy at home, I used then- existent pay phones for any social or dating contacts; this required planning and utilization of any opportunities. Teenagers today enjoy an ease of communications and freedom unthinkable in my time, and take it for granted...

I did the bookings for my band, from the time I was twelve. I spent a fair amount of time on the phone. I also had my yearly girlfriend, and the other gals between major girlfriends, so I was on the phone with them, as well. One thing's for sure, with the "ancient technology" of good old landlines, the most frequent thing I said, wayyyy back then, was NOT: "Can you repeat that, you just cut out!"

I can't recall any phone calls in my younger teens. (not counting... here talk to your grandma) Maybe a few times in my car driving teen years, and then, it was usually from a phone booth.

We had a shared land-line phone which was in the living room. The odd time I got a call from a friend, it was short, due to lack of privacy. The neighbour we shared the line with was nosy .. you could hear when they lifted their receiver to listen in.

I had calls from boys asking me out ALL THE TIME! My Mother would pick up the phone and I'd be in front of her waving frantically, "NO NO NO, DON'T TELL HIM I'M HERE!" Mother would turn her back to me so she wouldn't be lying, and would say softly, "I'm sorry,I don't SEE her right now.". Hahaha!
My girlfriends and I hardly talked on the phone because we were always together!

As for me and my girlfriends, we were always getting together doing this and doing that, so aside from lining up a coffee night, very little in the way of regular telephone calls between us, however, I do remember us calling one another up on babysitting nights.

No friends to talk to here, even though we had a phone in the living room.

Hogged it a bit later on in my twenties, and became a fool to using it all the time later in life I'm a bit ashamed to admit, (making up for lost time perhaps?). .

I think the phone thing was a girl thing. I don't ever recall phoning my buddies to tell them about the cutest little poodle skirt I just bought. Oh, all right, maybe that once!
