Do you dislike photos of yourself?

Oh boy can I relate to all of you! I've always hated pictures of myself and I think it's a "Freudian thing " as I remember as a Psych. major from Psychology 101 in college. That was many moons ago.
Unless you look better than you think you do in reality, a picture of yourself rejects the picture in your mind. Others may think you look great, but not you.
Having said that, I know all of you intelligent people have masks so show us your faces and you will all be forever beautiful and smart too.

The bandana style mask works better for my breathing but since I'm not the cowgirl type, I fashioned one out of a pretty dinner napkin with a button and elastic loop at the back. No sewing machine required. I wish it was lighter weight though. I'll try again. Who would have ever guessed that "cooties" could actually kill us?

I hope you know I have a smile under my mask.

The smile shows in your eyes. Most of us dislike our own
photos. It is difficult to see ourselves as others do.

I never liked pictures of myself, even when I was a kid. I showed my husband an old picture of me that I liked when I was a young teen. He didn't like it, he said it didn't even look like me. Well, that's probably why I liked it! :D I agree about the dim lights, making us look so much better. When I get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, I have a tiny night light plugged into the socket. I look great in the mirror with that lighting, like I was 30 something again.

I've always said. I don't like looking at myself in the mirror.. and just when I get used to it I seem to look different ( much worse) in every picture I get taken.

here's a link to the Photo thread with a couple that are more acceptable than most that are taken of me...although both taken a few years ago

I think I may start taking photos of myself wearing my masks.. or maybe that would be a step back in my self imposed therapy..:D

I do NOT. I might have been a cute baby, but a plain-looking adult. I am definitely not photogenic, always looking like I just got in from pulling an all-nighter of bar hopping. That's why I use my baby picture for my avatar.

Hate my pictures! But why is it people use pics of themselves from 40 years ago for their "avater" or whatever it's called? Why don't they show themselves from recently? This is a 'SENIOR FORUM". We all know we don't look the same as several years ago!

I don't know about others, but there are only a handful of photos that I can use as avatars. Many are not clear, and other than when I was much younger, I don't really like having my picture taken.

I have avoided allowing photos of myself for many years now. Maybe a vacation picture here or there.

Now that I've dropped 80 pounds {and still losing}, I'm coming around to accepting photos of myself. We went camping in Florida recently and a photo was taken of me and my other half on the beach on our bikes. I kinda like it.

Speaking of driver's licenses~I reach a goal last week in my weight loss journey. I'm finally back to the weight that is stated on my driver's license.
