Experienced severe abdominal pain, chills and runny nose.

Because of modern technology I called dr's office last Monday about symptoms mentioned above spoke to a Was told to go bland diet. Tuesday I called again and was assured I was doing the right thing. Skipped Wednesday and called again Thursday. All of this time my stomach was in such pain and discomfort, it was nearly unbearable.

Went to the ED Friday morning after examining my blood, vitals, urine and abdominal CT scan it was determined I had a urinary tract infection and I was discharged with an antibiotic and something for nausea.

I'm like the kid in the back "how long before we get there" The pain is still extreme, I don't have an appetite. At most I've had jello, ginger ale. tried eating oats and I'm taking Metamucil for fiber intake.

Here's the thing I have a penile implant and I wonder if that may have contributed to the urinary tract infection? So all last night I am fretting over that particular possibility, ruminating over and over the pain experienced when I had the implant surgery 10 years ago.

Why are you sharing this?

Shock value? We are not medical professionals.
My apologies for upsetting you. My point in passing this along is in response to the lack of attention to detail from medical phone conversations, I do not consider my post in the least way shocking over the lack patient and elder due to COVID-19 and other factors.

I gave this post some consideration before making it public. Noticeably and much appreciation, participants in this forum does not overly complain about their health conditions, a very commendable trait. So I do not want to be the one who changes this uplifting forum environment.

As I mentioned before, please my post if in any was offensive to you. It was not written for shock value or for pity sakes

This business of diagnosing via telephone is a crock. Especially during this pandemic. With those symptoms, you should have had blood work and been tested for COVID. At the very least. Shameful way to practice medicine.
He said he went to the ED (emergency department, I'm guessing). "Went to the ED Friday morning after examining my blood, vitals, urine and abdominal CT scan it was determined I had a urinary tract infection and I was discharged with an antibiotic and something for nausea."

@Mr. Ed: If you're still in pain, I suggest you show up at the ED again and tell them the symptoms are not abating.

This morning I was admitted to a different ED in a nearby town w/same symptoms. Results of the diagnosis gall bladder removal and nothing about UTI, after the cost of prescription for UTI I can throw it away. it was only time and money like everyone's got a lot to spare.

Inept medical care is dangerous and costly. I should not have to travel to a different city for professional medicare. Our home hospital maintains a distasteful image of it's self with continued poor judgment and misdiagnosis.

Just some added random thoughts....not medical expertise......

I wonder if anything in the water, when you were recently swimming, might have bothered you in some way...
and also, I wonder about the equipment for snorkelling...was it 100% clean, etc...and do the materials agree with your body, as well....
those might be additional variables....but I would hope for you to be more thoroughly checked by a doctor, if not improving rapidly.

Good advice! Doctors are telling me I need to have my gallbladder removed. I do not believe this is the only solution, acupuncture is a proven method for bodily treatment and health. I have an appointment with my acupuncturist today who will provide tips to modify my diet and general living skills. I have much faith in acupuncture it has proven to be an effective method to regain balance and health in my own life so I know it works.

I have multiple gall stones, because of the gallbladder it is like rubbing course sandpaper on a tender area. In this case my upper abdomen. I'm very cautious about my food intake, mostly bland foods like unsalted crackers, apple sauce, ginger ale, lots of water, jello, etc, seem to suffice. If I eat something that does not agree with me, ginger ale helps.

What a state of affairs when someone living in America is forced to come onto a chat site to get medical advice! What sort of doctors are we producing?
I'm not going to comment on the symptoms as I'm not qualified to do so. I do hope this gets sorted out, Mr. Ed, and I think you would be quite justified in seeking legal advice. You have not received the care you are entitled to (and presumably paying for).

Accupuncture will only put a bandaid on your gallbladder symptoms. If you've got gallstones, that has to be dealt with.

As for your telephone consultation in the first post, sounds like you need to shop for a new first line practitioner once Covid runs its course.

Thirdly, it's possible to be sick with more than one thing at a time which it sounds like you are.

I was in two minds whether to respond to this post but thought I would just add a different perspective..... maybe. Sometime some people do not have anyone to share their problems/situation with and although they may provide too much information for some, perhaps they are just releasing their frustration, worries, concerns. Obviously we cannot give medical opinions per se but perhaps we can give a bit of emotional support or comfort. Just some thoughts. ☺ This is a great Forum Mr Ed and it has helped me considerably. I may not know the people on here but I can assure you I have felt a lot of love, support and understanding not to mention the laughs and I mean real 'belly' laughs. I hope you can find the cause of the problem and get it sorted a.s.a.p. 🤗

If you took the antibiotic for the UTI, then when you were tested again it would/could show negative for an infection. Also, while not a medical professional of any kind, I think any foreign object in the body, when there is an infection, the infection can be worst.

Because of my hip replacement any time I have my teeth worked on, I have to take a antibiotic to avoid infections which could travel to my hip and result in a failure of the implant. Implants become easily infected apparently. You could google about your particular implant.

As to gallbladder issues, which I have had, they cause stomach pain. I get the chills easily due to poor circulation. I have not had a fever since I was 18, but I have had UTI”s and other infections. I had my gallbladder out about 3 or 4 years ago or so.

During the “minor” gallbladder surgery, the surgeon tore my liver. 🙄. Had emergency liver surgery to repair my liver and was, of course, admitted to the hospital for a few days. My advice, if you have your gallbladder removed, have it done in a hospital not a surgical center. Apparently the tearing of ones liver during this surgery is not uncommon. Feel better soon.

I this post has gotten way out of hand, let's stop all chatter about medical concerns. I did not what a huge can of worms I opened up until now. For all your concerns I am deeply grateful but true this forum for expressing good and positive interactions, not at all what I presented to you.
Thank you

Most forums become a huge can of worms 😂, it is more like normal conversation-one thing leads to another 😄
