♪These are a few of my favorite things♪

I almost forgot wunna my very favoritest things

That 2nd sleep;

Wife and I tend to get up early
Like 3am sometimes

Sip coffee...maybe
get on the web
or do something tedious.....like finances

Have a snack

Get sleepy (around 5 or7am or so)

Then

Trudge back to the pillowtop
Fall in
Snuggle
Slowly drift off...not a too tired zone out
No, a fully conscious drift off
Awareness begins to fade
Until, snorting back awake
Only to begin the drift off anew

Until sweet slumber overtakes......everything
face, pointing at the open window

drooling a river

Waking comes......whenever

There can, in no way, be a bad day after that
 
Thank you Gary for letting me try your style of writing.

As a wordsmith (at times) got to try different things,,keep the old sluggish brain working.

Last evening I worked at rescuing my tomato plants that the weeds were crowding out.
Dressed in jeans ,boots, long sleeve shirt & large hat, went forth to rip out the tall grasses.
All the time hoping no ticks would latch onto an open patch of skin.

Mulched around the plants with fresh saw dust.

Later today,, will cut back some of the asparagus bushes so sun can ripen the tomatoes.

Flower beds always need care,, weeds to pull, dirt to turn.
Move lilies closer to house so deer don't eat the buds.

Oh, you are way more fun than Julie Andrews. You posts are always worth reading, and your photography is superb.

But the posts that captured my imagination the most were the pictures of those whimsical looking bird houses that you make. They looked like they belong in the backyard of a Hobbit. .... maybe I have some hobbit blood running in my veins. I am willing to bet that you do.
 
1. going on my early morning walks no matter what the weather except during a downpour/a snow storm when sidewalks aren't shoveled
2. finish daily NYT crossword puzzle,usually get MOn&Tues sometimes Weds
3.Since May 3rd,weekly Sun afternoon Zoom meeting with my brother&his family ,who knows when I'll see them again boosts my spirits
4.reading my books
5. take my close friend's family dog for a walk
 
First of all, I love my family....Some have gone but, still have a brother younger then me....And his lovely wife and children....I treasure my kids, 8 of them....My husband will have a Birthday on Sunday...75 years old....Almost didn't make it.....He went through a lot....Cancer is his Nerve.....We take 1 day at a time...

He posted pictures of some of them several months ago, but I sure don't remember how to get back to that particular thread. It looked like most of his were made from pieces of wood that he found on the forest floor. They were really interesting looking, like they belonged in an imaginary world.
 
My absolute favourite things are 'Crafternoons' and making all sorts of things
I enjoy most handicrafts and always have
I am about to recover 2 vinyl arms of an office chair huz uses when he is at his computer
I have blue vinyl offcuts so will measure multiple times and cut once 🤞
We both have office chairs and they were not cheap but the vinyl is not good quality :(
The vinyl started splitting where both of us push up or down on the front of the chair arms
So I added a small 'sleeve' to cover the damaged areas on the chair arms
Last night around 11pm I was sitting at my computer and turned to get up and noticed the
poor condition of the arms of huz chair now with many small areas lifting and cracks appearing
Now it is time to add a full length 'sleeve' so no more problems with the chair arms anyway
The blue vinyl is good quality and soft to the touch and I can easily sew it on my sewing machine
You may ask why not just buy a new chair each?
I would much rather repair than replace if possible and they won't end up at the local dump

I'll post a photo when I have made the longer 'sleeves' and the chair is complete
 
Finding leftovers or maybe an extra meatloaf in the freezer so I don't have to cook. I love cooking but appreciate a day off once in awhile.
My son showing me how to do something using a new tool or gadget he bought.
My daughter taking the time to straighten out my computer and deleting the hundreds of sites that I have downloaded that I have no idea how they got there.
Finding a bag of Cheetos I hid from myself.
Having most of my Christmas shopping done by the end of the summer. Not this year though.
Going to the Atlantic City casinos once in awhile and actually winning a few dollars. Sadly not this year.
Just knowing that my family is safe and happy.

yes, my skewed mind has finally found a place

I'm in the process of rewriting a blurb;

I've designed these avian abodes with small birds,
such as sparrows or wren in mind

Concentrating on the quirky creative whimsies
nature has provided

The entries are drilled out knots
Creating ripples of grain around them

The wood is cedar, coated in linseed oil
(birds don't mind it)

The roost perches are lodge pole pine tree roots
from blow downs

They are the gnarliest, and present a special challenge
in incorporating them within style constraints

But....when it comes together,
the adventure is most satisfying

Yeah, I had to go to the dedicated birders
Total consensus was linseed oil.

I shipped one to my long time bud in Wyoming
'Dry' (as requested)
He's a master wood worker
Took it all apart and put all the parts in his vacuum chamber....of linseed oil
Then, carefully screwed it back together
He's much more dedicated than I
Heh, if a piece of wood chips off or I mess it up somehow while building....that screw up becomes a 'feature'
