AM Mowing -- The good news is that it's so much cooler; the bad news is wet grass to gum up the works or at least put undue pressure on the engines. One time I had to use a pressure washer under the blade deck.

PM Mowing -- The good news is dry grass that eases the chore; the bad news is the risk of heat prostration ... or worse.

I hate sitting and waiting for the dew to dry!!! By the time it dries out, its time for my nap!!

I have 4 acres to maintain...
 
Finding a good time to mow is an ongoing challenge. With the Summer humidity, the grass is usually too damp in the early morning hours, and the heat becomes an issue in the afternoon. We've got a more mild week ahead, but lots of rain forecasted, so by the time I can mow again, parts of the yard may be quite tall.

It's only right to wait for the grass to dry. If it's hot cut half today and half tomorrow. Never push or punish yourself.

Actually it’s been about that temperature here lately and hasn’t cooled down much at night but that’s not our norm and I’d still rather mow in that weather than get the blades all wet and stuck with grass. Plus mowing at night gives the grass some relief at least since the sun isn’t out and sometimes it even rains. Last night we had a thunderstorm between 3 and 4:00 a.m. I love the smell and feel of the air just before a storm.

I went out about 10 o'clock to do some mowing/trimming. By 1PM my gauge in the workshop was showing about 87 degrees(about 30 celcius), and the humidity was 92 percent....miserably sticky. A cool front is supposed to arrive here around suppertime and give us some rain and cooler temperatures, but by the time I quit mowing, my shirt was sticking to me. In this kind of weather, I often take 2 or 3 days to complete my mowing.
 
Son got one of those "robo" mowers...its been crazy. The grass has to be all "grass" with no corn sticks or anything for it to work and the yard flat...it went down in a low ditch and couldn't climb out. He pub 2 x 4's in the bottom, but it still couldn't cut it. Then lightening struck the battery pack and it started smoking.

Think they have a ways to go before there's any real help on the robo front!
 
A very rare morning today, i.e., no dew. I need to get my behind out there and do the walk-behind portion of the job (takes about 40 minutes). I did the "tractoring" portions yesterday in ungodly heat. A very hot July this yr.
