He still has that coin and it's still a dollar, but I checked the date, it's 1988. Does that matter? I have one already dated 1986.

Everytime I looked over today, someone was there. That doesn't necessarily mean he sold a lot.

I don't believe it matters, because these coins were only minted as testers , pre Euro ... and only a relative few were minted

I would pay 50¢, but I wouldn't embarrass him trying to haggle over a half-dollar. I don't like that when it happens at my sale.

I went over today and bought the Irish 20 pence coin and a wooden nickel. Offered them 50¢ for both and they accepted it.
