Blueberries from Canada

My blueberries are thriving this year. Have been picking a quart a day off my bushes. So juicy and tasty. Been putting them in cold and hot cereal, in pancake batter too. Even froze some to make muffins, bread and pie.

The price you paid is $4 a quart. Local folks are selling their berries for $2.50 and $3.00 a quart.

Yeah well we normally pay $3.00 a pint. The wild ones picked are about $35.00 a basket. People come in from out of town where they are plentiful and sell them off the back of their cars. But if you ever picked blueberries out in the wild bent over and with the blackflies and mosquitoes biting you it's worth the price of admission.

$3.00 a quart? You are robbing those people.
 

We have blueberries in the wild and yes we have picked them. No flies or mosquitoes though. Just an occasional underground white faced hornets nest, a snake or a bear.

Robbing what people? The one selling their homegrown product? They are the ones setting their own price.

O.K. the ones setting their own price . It's incredibly low. So the consumers are robbing them is my point. It's like you are getting away with murder. A simile so to speak.

I would feel guilty and would leave a $2.00 tip.

I bought a bike at a yard sale. They were charging $5.00. I gave them ten. When she was offering change, I said, no keep it you are not charging enough.

Oh, I don't think the sellers feel they are getting robbed. When product is overwhelming, as is the case around here, you sell many more quarts at the lower price just so the product doesn't go to waste. Same with corn...fresh corn on the cob goes for $2.00 a dozen. It's a good time to pick up fresh fruits, berries, etc., can, freeze them or make jams and jellies for use during the winter months.
