Is (Or Was) Anyone In The Path of Hurricane Isaias?

We're under a hurricane and tornado watch here in parts of New Jersey. The tornado part is unusual. Winds are predicted to be between 60 and 70 mph. As I'm typing this, the wind is picking up but it's not too bad yet. It was raining very hard, now it's slowed down. We just had a 3 second outage before I started this post but major power outages are predicted throughout the state.

I hope no one was or will be adversely affected. Stay safe and well everyone.

Batten down the hatches and stay safe. These things can send dangerous debris flying and they tend to spawn tornados along the way.

One of these mini tornados briefly touched down on our property a few years ago. It selected a single large pine tree to pick on and proceeded to twist it off about mid-way up the trunk . I was watching out the window when it happened. The power of that twister was awesome to say the least. After picking up the top half of the tree it simple dropped it a few yards away, rose back into the sky and went on with its business. It did touch down again a couple of miles away with similar results. Watching it made a real believer out of me and I was so happy that it did not touch our house which was only about 30 feet away.

We briefly got some heavy rain yesterday from this latest hurricane, but the wind was fairly mild.

You play it safe my friend.

We're out here near the Cape (Cod) and there probably will be some shoreline damage but I think that the bulk of the storm will be passing west of us (maybe west of RadishRose and our son's home as well) but I expect some wind and rain here if it stays on it's projected path.

Central Md. Had a steady rain all morning but no wind. So here at least, it has been a big nothing burger compared to what was predicted.

I realize that NJ and other points toward the northeast were hammered.

Oh, our winds were terrific. I lost power 3 times, but only for a few seconds each. Heard sirens several times.

Now, it's just drizzling with a bit of wind, but holy cow, those gusts were huge. Now I hear chain saws going. Earlier, I hard a huge bang up the lane (can't see there) so I think a tree or a large limb fell on a car.

@DaveA, are you having trouble at the Cape? It's very much east, so I hope you're not. Your son is east of me too, so hoping no damage there.

Maybe this storm will blow the remaining Covid away!

We did OK Rose. lost a couple of branches from one of the maples but other than that - -nothing. Only a few sprinkles and we could have used a good rain. Haven't talked with our son this evening but we'll touch base tomorrow.

Glad to hear that Dave, but too bad about the maple. My son said trees were down in quite a few areas. He lost power for a couple of hours.

Yes, we could have used more rain, too!
