Neighbors are having a lawn sale

I went to a farm sale yesterday, where all the tractors and other farm machinery were being sold. The office area where you gegister, or pay once you've bid, and bought something, followed all the usual precautions. However, one man suggested the sale of small items in one of the farm buildings might not be organised safely.
The organiser told him bluntly, "If you don't feel safe, go home!"
(Well said that man is my view)! (y)👨‍🌾 .

I stay away from Deet. I put the green Listerine in a spray bottle and that works well for me inspite of studies saying it has low concentration of eucalyptol to be effective. My only problem is it's sticky...lol
You could use eucalyptus as an essential oil and mix a drop or two of peppermint, lavender, lemon balm into hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol and put it in a spray bottle.

Thank you to whomever mentioned bedbugs. lol I have not stopped itching since reading this thread. OMG, I bought a beautiful living room chair and after reading this I will not ever buy a piece of furniture from a garage sale ~ ever again. I have a habit of itching when I hear of bedbugs, fleas, lice, etc.View attachment 117197

One of the worst things about bedbugs is that by the time you actually realize you've got them, they are EVERYWHERE. My sister initially had what she thought was a rash from who knows what. She went to the doc and he thought so, to. Then it started to pop up everywhere worse and worse clusters of red bumps that itched like mad and the doc finally recognized it as bed bug bites. She never really saw any bedbugs until we figured out what to look for and how to look for them. She had to get rid of all her upholstered furniture, mattresses, box springs, many books and clothes and lots of other things and fumigators had to come and treat her place twice from top to bottom. Regular insect sprays do not even kill bedbugs.

That was 6 or 7 years ago and I still don't feel comfortable in her place.

I heard somewhere you can get bedbugs from furniture right from a store. Who knows who was testing out that mattress or sofa before you bought it.
Maybe - if they sell you the floor model that people have been trying out. Or if they sell you one that someone else returned.
You also have to be careful who you invite to your home. A friend got Scabies from a house guest who had them & sat on her sofa for a couple of hours. They burrow under the skin & the itch is unbearable. She spent several hours in the E.R. & had to be treated for a week. She also had to treat ALL her furniture.
