What skills and/or abilities are magic to you?

Levitation. How magicians and illusionists do this is beyond me, but I wish I had the gift. It would come in so handy in traffic jams or long lines. Just whoosh and everybody looks up and you can scoot away. 😄
They defy the law of gravity. Maybe they do the trick while the law is not in force?

I can harmonize and read music very easily. Some people consider those skills "magic."

What I can't do is understand the game of football. (American). My son finally gave up explaining it to me.
I'll explain it to you. It's 11 guys on each team pushing each other to move the ball one foot at a time.

When I was a kid, the older boys would have two poles with paper liners strung between them.

The paper came from boxcars used to carry grain.

They would walk down a lane at night and the bats would fly into the paper and fall. Then they would pick them up and examine them. We didn't know how dangerous that was. Bats can carry rabies.

When I think of it now I wonder why the bats couldn't detect the paper with their radar or did the sonar signals go right through.
who knows...maybe bugs make a sound ...amazing critters

Electronic circuits and repairs. Being able to read a schematic. It's fascinating.
I subscribe to a YouTube channel. There's a genius guy on there that restores old radios and explains all the components and their functions, tubes and all.

It inspires me to try to fix anything that I have around the house.

Right now my oven is not working in my range. I'm going to give it a try.
Now this one I can do, especially if it is from the vacuum tube era. Then again, that doesn't have the utility it once did.
But, I still can't claim to be a genius.
I can claim to be dated in my "skill set."

I had four years of Latin in High School., two years of French in H.S., a year in college, and I took some Spanish classes. Yet, I can barely mumble in English. I am so amazed at people, who can say something in one language, and immediately say something else in another language. I don't know how they do it. It is so seamless, talking in one language, and jumping in with another. I'm in awe of those people.

It's not hard if you learned another language as a child.

I want to learn piano but I haven't figured out how to make both hands do different things at the same time. To me that would take an odd talent to be able to do.
My poor cousin tried for years to teach me how to play the piano; she finally gave up. That was when we were teenagers and I'd spend a couple of weeks in Corpus Christi during the summer.

A lot of my friends and family consider me to be a witch because I fold my fitted sheets into perfect, smooth squares 😂

I on the other hand watch in awe as my kids and grands can so effortlessly stay upright on the ice. I’m a graceful ballroom dancer and very coordinated on the dance floor. But put me on the ice and all I can manage is a death grip on the rails in order to not land on my a$$ in about 5 seconds. 😳

Perhaps my magic is the ability to listen to conversations and insert words and phrases that emphasize or alters the conversation all together. I’m good taking words and phrases out of context and manipulating a whole new meaning. I don’t do this for spite or for ill gain I do it for entertainment and to make people laugh.

When I bought my computer a month before I retired in 2011, really had no idea how to 'surf the web' or do anything else.I was initimated but learned as I figured things out
One of the ladies in my church business office,Lenore taught me so many computer skills,I was amazed how quickly I caught on,she was a terrific, patient teacher
I remember the 1st time I made an airplane reservation online,my hands were shaking because I didn't think I could do it,relieved everything turned out fine

My top three unrealized dreams were:

1. Play the electric guitar (Now mind you I had to have a Fender Strat & a Marshall stack) like Hendrix and Clapton.

2. Impress chicks with my abilities to scare other guys with my nunchucks like Bruce Lee did

3. Drive a competition Hurst 4 speed

The key word here is unrealized

Thanks for listening.

I have always been fascinated by people who are able to pick up different languages so easily.
My mom has this gift. She is conversant in major dialects of the Philippines. I am not as good as her but I can converse in 3 languages with ease. I'm currently learning Korean by watching K dramas and practicing with Koreans at work.

Being able to converse with people in their native tongue makes it easier to bond with them.

Of course. But what I am talking about is the 'ability' to sing. That's granted to everyone, the same as speech unless you are born with a defect.

How are things in New York state? One thing I have missed out on and what I will do is to visit New York City.
my defect was being verbally abused by the choir director of my dad's church, hence I don't sing

I have watched cricket. I understand how the score is calculated but can't figure out what overs are.

There is a playground in my city where they play cricket.
Let me try to "confuse you further", er I mean explain......

One guy gets the ball, runs up maybe twenty yards, give or take, then releases said ball in very specific manner, all governed by strict rules to avoid " chucking", and if its a legal delivery, aimed at or near the three stumps 22 yards away at the other end of the pitch, that is called "one ball".

Repeat the exercise six times in total, and this is then called "an over", (except back in the 1970s, when they flirted with eight ball over for a short spell).

The next "over" will then be bowled from the other end of the pitch, (this being done in case there is a slight slope on the whole ground, to try to negate or mitigate that factor a little, plus maybe wind direction, some bowlers better with wind behind them etc).

Does this help?

The umpire gets to shout "over" to signify six balls have been bowled, and of course the side "in the field", (i.e. not batting), have to all run around into new positions to take into account the change of ends!

One last requirement in order to play cricket is the "stiff upper lip", which of course means not showing emotion of any kind whilst playing! (y):censored:.

That helped. We played it as kids. No wickets. We stacked three tin cans. Runs were counted by batters running from one end to the other. If the cans were hit with a fielded ball while the batters were running they were out. The other team took over. The game was over when it got dark. We chucked? No fancy straight arm delivery. No cricket bats? Baseball bats.

Being able to open jars, bottles, cans etc. is becoming more and more of a challenge for me. I guess my hands aren't as strong as they used to be and/or they're making more stuff so kidproof that it's almost impossible to get things opened up.

If it wasn't for hubby I would probably ending up destroying some of the containers just trying to get the stuff out. LOL
