Pudknocker (noun) - A person who is pretentious but is lacking skill or ability. Used in the movie "The Right Stuff" to refer to test pilots with big egos and little experience.

When my son was young he asked me what a pud was.

Oh, yes, they indeed are two different things, but how complimentary each name is to one another!
