Do you ever decide to take a day off from having a bad day?

One of the things it's easy to do is to get so caught up in the negative news on tv or events in our own lives that it brings us down. Today I decided that no matter what happened I was going to revel in something I accomplished. Now, the project is not done, but I feel good about it. Really good. I decided not to let the political scene, the virus or anyone's anger get to me. The feeling I'm having is like being newly in love. I love it. Want to join me in the feeling?

Excellent outlook, Phoenix! Recently I reached back to a saying from the hard core hippie days, from Baba Ram Das: “Be. Here. Now.” It’s helping pull me back from mentally jumping around, like when I’m in the middle of doing one thing, mentally leaping ahead to whatever the next thing will be, & the next after that. Putting the brakes on.

The Buddhist have a practice like that, it's called mindfulness. It helps a lot. So you are a former hippie? I always wondered what that would be like.

I've never gotten caught up in whatever's on TV news, or politics
Or even friend's or folk's travails

Guess I've always been an observer
Learned early on from my sister
She'd argue with our folks about things she wanted to do
Hardly ever got her way

I just did 'em

No bad days to take off

Now if somebody crosses me, they end up having a very bad day

Can't wait until tomorrow

Interesting picture. Quite appealing. Is it a photo that's been photoshopped or did you paint it? I've tried several approaches to life - doing what others expected of me, doing what I wanted to do without anyone's permission etc. I was shy to start. Being shy means you don't trust anyone. I gradually opened up and became myself. That caused/causes it's own set of problems. Life is. It happens. We deal with it. These days I take care of myself and those I love. I try to be kind and compassionate, but if someone is pushy I usually back away. If that doesn't work I am open with them. That can turn them off, but if they were being jerks - I don't need jerks in my life. It's a balance. In psychological terms I'm a participant observer.

It's jus' a pic of me, my lady took
I prolly used photomania's 'paint' to give it a boost
Photomania is a fun site. lotsa options
No 'chopping' per se, but fun tints and frills
