Good morning, today ,after many searches on Google, I'm looking for just what tools one might need for this newly found future project . What I like to call, the broken mirror conundrum. Let me explain, 10 years ago I didn't take seriously this inevitable element called AGE. being a senior was something that happened ,but could it really happen to me? Oh as many times as I moved , it seemed to follow me. there were no places to escape it. I decided this will not do.
I shall just exercise more, that'll fix it, ooooh give it time I said. But one day I looked in the mirror and realized,,, the darn is broken. In instant relief, I raced out to get a new hair style went and picked up some new duds. That's it, I said,I'll doll myself up, loose a little weight ,good as new right?
Confidently walking ,almost strolling back to the new mirror I just hung on the wall, I flipped the lights on and drgggg
It's gotta be the lighting, replacing it with a beautiful incandescent bulb once again,I stepped back only to realize ........
What in the world?....this AGE element has clearly gotten out of hand.
not only am I finding this unreasonable invading element has attacked myself but others as well.
How could I have not seen this? then ,I imagine ,since defeat was not in my vocabulary I tried the next best thing. It must be a world wide conspiracy . It first caught my attention when taking my credit card out, flipping it over to call customer service I noticed, wait a minute, these letters weren't this small a few years ago. And why can't I grab any shoes off the rack like before and have them fit, as I've done in the past?
Yes just as I suspected the shoe companies are in the mix as well.. yes yes......this is all making sense.lol
However I'll wrap it up as listing out all my shifting the blame instead of realizing ,it's happened to me. One of the greatest admirations was always my security of knowing that wisdom comes from those who have seen it done and
learned from this conundrum.
One thing I have found, as I'm approaching the dock of being a senior, looking at my tool belt, it seems pretty light.
Laughter is good medicine and holding on to things that are from the heart, anchor deeper than any materialism that life can bring. Love kindness, letting go of resentments and acceptance is a must. Those are good tools, but?, navigating your world to have the things you need?, investing in plans and goals that will give a better long-term security?
Those are a work in progress, I really enjoy learning from others and hoping to be a encouragement to others here.
My question is, at 53 what would you advise me to invest in ? I mean, I have a part-time job somewhat disabled, limited in income what types of insurance should I focus on acquiring? How do you exactly plan for your future? are there any sites that give a list of things to look at? What would you have done differently if you could redo any investments, or purchases at 53? Am I asking the right questions?
I am a self taught gal for much of everything in life, up til this point, and most of my growth has been from wonderful advise of the people who have walked the road before me. Enjoying your post. Have a great day!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm signing off see ya little later, nice to have met you all. Have a blessed day.

You sound like a great person and smart....We never even thought of the future, we both were working till
the 60's My husband and I had a pension at 63....Our kids are married....We sent them to college...
Thank God for my husband's workforce, We are not millionaires....We never asked for anything....We just survived..
Yes hubby had some investments...We have a home that is ours....for 45 years....Taxes are going up, might just
go to another place....You have a future to work it out, slowly....
God Bless....

Thanks hollydolly ! Wow you worked over seas?..... That's pretty neat EHEH,,,, guess I'm green in a lot of ways, that would be scary for me. However, I bought a pair of oculus Go techno thingy glasses... and well technically i went to 33 countries in 3 hours all without a passport . Yes,,, I sat at the beach, watched the fireworks in Paris and went fishing off the coast of Spain ,all while dodging my cat (which if you knew my cat that was quite a task,,lol) and it was loooovely ,,well right up till the light flashed low battery,,, 😬 gdrrr but thats not the point. eheh

After I turned 50 I pouted for 4 years. But it's kind of like losing one's virginity, once it's gone, it's gone. As the look of age set onto my face I thought oh, well. One of the things that helped were the cataracts. Once I had them removed, I aged 10 years all at once. Grin. Sometimes now I look in the mirror first thing in the morning when my face is still scrunched up from sleep, and I think, "Ick, look at that." But it does no good to pout. It does no good to be upset about it. I am a far better person than I was when the age didn't show. I've learned what's important. I like myself. I have integrity and I work towards becoming a better person, for myself, not because others expect it of me.

Welcome to the time in your life when you have the option of becoming more beautiful where it counts - on the inside.

The best advice I can give is pay your debts off and then try not to get in debt again. We paid off everything before my late husband retired and it's been nice to just have utility bills, a cable bill, and credit card bills due every month. I make sure I pay off the credit cards every month, so thoughtful spending is a must. Once the restrictions are a part of the past, I want to get involved in things more. A book club and some volunteer work. Things where I can get out among others.

Other than all that, just keep a positive attitude and include some kind of exercise every day.

So, welcome to our group. I know you'll love it here. Everyone is so informative and interesting.
