I remember the first I...fill in the blank

I remember the first (and *only*) time I ran afoul of our fire-breathing dragon of an elementary school principal.

It was the third grade. For some minor mis-deed, I had to go stand in the hall outside the classroom door. That was my first time out there, but for some of the students it was a rare treat. There were often others also standing outside the doors of their classrooms and you could wave to them and make faces.

Unfortunately, the principal was cruising the halls and "invited" me down to the office for "a little visit". I had seen huge 8th grade boys crying when they left her office after "a little visit" so this was THE END OF THE WORLD. I started crying and cried so hard I made myself sick. My mother had to come get me.

After that, I worked very hard at never getting put out in the hall again. To this day, the mere thought of that woman makes me tremble.

I, too, remember school teacher power-trippers and bullies, as does my husband, but unlike myself, dear husband was a strapping boy at a young age, so the bully and power-tripping teachers he remembers watched their p's & q's around him.

To this day this is why I'm not quick to trust or praise authority.

I remember the first time I went to the 1964 World's Fair in Queens, NYC. I remember looking around at the apartment buildings across from the Fair. Little did I know know, in about 5 years, I got an apartment in that building. I was overwhelmed by it. I also remember the first time I was in NYC. I was about 8. In my town, the biggest building was the 4 story hospital. When I saw all the huge buildings in NYC, I couldn't believe the number of all those sick people in them.

I remember the first time I made love. I was 21, and was with a woman who I'd pursued on and off since high school. I never saw her again.

I remember the first time I ate at a Chinese restaurant
I too remember doing that
and it was chow mein
Only, it was in mainland China

A small, open air, eatery

Managed to order the chow mein
(No english speaking folks within miles)

Most wonderful Chinese food I'd ever tasted
An old lady finally brought me a spoon, a big one
(Probably one to stir the pot)
.....after watching me struggle with chopsticks

Had two bowls

Later found out the meat was bits of dog

The term 'Good Dog' developed a new connotation

I remember the first time I got an electric shock.....

I bloody well near banged me 'ead on the ceiling. 😊

I remember my first time having sex, it was in the bathroom of a psychiatric hospital. Perhaps aa little unorthodox but coming to age isn’t and we genuinely cared for one another at the time. Stress and hardships creates unlikely bedfellows.

I remember the first time I was a patient in hospital. I was 7 years old and getting my Appendix removed after emergency surgery. I woke up in the middle of the night puking, and the nurse who was sitting at her desk at the end of the ward lit only by a small lamp, ran like crazy to get a bowl for me to throw up in...
It's like a zillion years ago things have changed so much in hospitals since those days.
I also remember the school tutor coming around the ward during my stay and having to do school work!!

I remember my first speeding ticket and $75 bond. Just got my first car, 1967 Dodge Charger. I was driving home from work through downtown LaGrange Ga. when I spotted a classmate of mine playing drums in a band. I stopped and visited for awhile then drove home. The city lights were so bright I forgot to turn on my headlights on the way home?

Me a new a driver at 16 did not recognize the meaning of oncoming traffic flashing their lights at me. So for some unknown reason I turned down the narrow street toward my house and put my foot on the accelerator to see how fast I could arrive at my house.

The state trooper who pulled me over right in front of my house clocked me at 80 mph. I didn’t say anything about my house being across the road so I was arrested with a $75 bond on my head. Later my dad came and drove me home.

My dad knew the judge so i didn’t have to appear in court nor was my license revoked because my dad took care of it.
