What kind of color books do you like? Pencils or gel pens?

I am currently coloring “Meditative Garden Mandala” by Deyth Anghatad. I really like the complexity of these pages and the ability to really play the different colors off each other. I have a great many colored pencils and prefer them over the gel pens.

I tried the pens once, made a mess. 😂. I have a hard time telling some of the shades apart, but I am a bit color blind, I think. Flowers are my second favorite books, then anything else is fine. I like more detailed pictures. What do you like?

I really like the gel pens but have never used the pencils so can't really say which one I like best. The book I am using right now is a spiral one of the forest. I have 3 more pictures to color in it so I ordered a new one last night. Country Flowers. I am new to this and really enjoy it.

Don't color "coloring books", but do sketch with colored pencils. Like to shade with them to get different hues to show depth of field and dimensional contrasts.

Thank you to all here... you've given me a little food for thought as to picking up on this pastime to help me through the long cold winter.
It’s great Marg. This you could use really use right now. It’s soothing, relaxing and makes you feel good. There’s a saying ‘idle hands, devils workshop’ It has some truth to it. Colouring helps you to focus on something else besides your thoughts which is healthy for the mind and soul.

Same here; I've thought about trying this because people keep telling me it would help with stress. Reason I haven't tried it yet is, I'm one of those people who about the only thing I can stand to do with my hands is turn the pages of a book or pound a keyboard or operate a computer mouse.

It does and you’ll adapt. Another great thing it does is help with dexterity. I’m finding my finger tips super sensitive at time’s and this plus playing an instrument helps a lot.

I appreciate your words of encouragement, Keesha.

I definitely am at my place in life when I can immerse myself in something that keeps my brain focused on something outside of random thoughts, and I see this as holding promise.

An old friend sent me a children's Snoopy colouring book that comes with wax crayons. It has a Xmas theme and stickers.

Years ago, I had one with intricate designs that had pencil crayons, which I enjoyed. It's quite relaxing.

My escape from stress and depression, is gardening, but do think this would make for a great escape, too. :)

But doing this is perfect for sitting down and watching a movie with your husband. You’ll live it. Don’t forget to tell us which one you get and a dog while you’re out and about.
As a young child I loved any and all things related to art, so picking up something like this might just do me good.

I do find the winter days long, and while I'm never bored so to speak, having an outlet (such as this) to tap into would make for soothing times.
