Are you splurging on anything because you're stuck inside?

Well, since we can't travel much, and don't eat out much, and don't do much, I have sort of splurged on a few things. Today, I bought a designer tea sampler. The one that caught my eye was called Low Country -- a black tea described as having notes of bourbon and burnt sugar. The weather has been cooling off, so it's hot tea weather for me. Probably wouldn't have spent $30 on a tea sampler in normal times, but what the heck?! Looking forward to trying it.

It sounds good, I love black tea. While I do not drink, and never have, I love the smell of whisky. Burnt sugar and bourbon black tea sounds great. Let me know how it taste. What brand is it?

No splurging for me. All extra money goes into this money pit of a house.

That *does* sound divine, @CarolfromTX! I guess my biggest 'splurge' is treating myself to a Latte at the local coffee shop.... Americus is not a foodie destination for the most part, but since there's a college here, there's a coffee house with locally-roasted, excellent quality coffee. =)

Since March I haven't been as careful with bargain hunting for groceries in various stores.

These days I hit one store a week and splurge a little by paying full price for a bottle of mayonnaise or by purchasing a few pricey deli items.

Nothing wild but definitely out of character for me.

Bowmore,
We have been doing much the same. We FaceTime our son, daughter in law and new granddaughter every Sunday. It works amazingly well just using the camera on the laptop. They live 13 hours away from us by car, so it has become a valuable entity. He is our only child and our granddaughter just turned 2.

Audiobooks. I think I've become the best customer that audible.com has. I'm in their book club where I pay a fee and get 2 books per month, but I can also buy 3 extra credits for a low price ) each book costs one credit). The audiobooks really help to alleviate the boredom of isolation.

Since the Covid, we've been getting a lot of food delivered from restaurants (no contact), much more than we would normally. So we haven't been doing without in the good food department. Other than that, we really haven't splurged, had our fence replaced because it was old and some high winds took part of it down, and bought a Sleep Number bed.....those are our two biggest expenses anyway.

Let us know how you like the sleep number bed. I am always thinking I should get one, but since I slip down in a hospital bed, I’m afraid I would do the same in a sleep number.

I have been splurging on video lesson packages from some well known jazz guitarists. It isn't so much because I am stuck inside, but instead because these musicians are stuck inside and all they can do right now is streaming concerts and create lessons to sell. The two main players I have been purchasing lessons from are Frank Vignola (via Truefire.com) and Jake Reichbart (direct). I prefer these to a live teacher because I can take my time with the lesson, playing segments over and over as needed.

Due to my interests, staying home during this COVID-19 situation is really not having as much of a negative impact on my life as it seems to be for many here.

I am long done with my playing in group situations and have been focusing on playing solo guitar, in which I play the melody, bass line, and harmony at the same time. I much prefer to do this on acoustic guitar, rather than having to plug in to an amp or have all kinds of equipment to fool around with. Just me and the guitar, and the lessons I purchase are all about that. I tend to favor the Great American Songbook and tunes in a similar style from later periods where there is a good melody and harmony I can work with.

Tony

Well, we have bought a few things, online, for our Christmas. New set of bed sheets, skillet set and some other things. All in our closet, waiting to be wrapped in December.
