Do you like barn wood as a decorative feature inside your house?

I do not like barn wood as a decorative feature.

Conversation with my husband: Do you like barn wood as a decorative feature? (I am watching brother vs brother HGTV and one of them has just used barn wood.). Husband says no. Hmm. Do you know what barn wood is? Husband says no. (I am thinking it’s not brain surgery, so he should be able to figure out what it is.)

Then, I ask, how do you know you don’t like it. Husband replies: Since I don’t know what it is, I don’t like it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

What’s your opinion? Do you like barn wood as a decorative feature? Or not? Or, do you just not care? 😂

it's a 70's style. I refinished my kitchen cabinets with it back then. But, I LOVE rustic design and rough wood. I put up half logs on the ceiling to go with it and it all went well with my kitchen antiques.
It would be a nice decorative wall behind a bed. Where are you planning on using it? Are you using real barn wood or bender board?
A single decorative wall of real barn wood with stark white on the other walls looks nice. It also depends on the rest of your decor.
It's striking with contemporary design. (think Ralph Lauren). It also looks well with primative antique decor.
Whatever you do, make sure you use REAL WOOD, not plasticized paneling. It will add texture and drama to an otherwise drab room and looks spectacular with brilliant white decor. Rough, rustic wood gives warmpth to a room.

I love it
My wife, who is the authority on all things related to decor around here says that "it depends, and if you try to use it you have to really pay attention to how it will work with everything else in the room."
Absolutely

Thing is 'barn wood' is at a premium price
In some cases, right up there with some Panamanian hardwoods

In the right application/design, absolutely.

I've always dreamed of having a getaway cabin tucked away somewhere, where all inside and out was rustic. A place where I could escape from time to time to get away from it all, have a rest, and know that no surprise visitors would come knocking.

Barn wood, paneling, wood flooring, secret passageways, secret doors, the works.

Like this.

No.... grew up on a farm, saw all the farm buildings and equipment, enough to last a lifetime. Don't need any reminders of the hard work involved in growing up on a farm.

When I'd leave the door open as a child, my mother would scream at me, "Close the door! Were you born in a barn?!" Now I have decorative barn wood craft things around, so I guess I am in a barn! I can hardly wait until the cows come home, which is something else I heard a lot as a child. I'm hoping for a milk shake... 🥤

How about drift wood? A local lake was drawn down for dam repair leaving sunken drift wood exposed. I picked one up and it makes a nice decoration. Once I see if my camera still works after dropping it in a lake yesterday, I'll post a pic.

I don't know. Not much for decor. My daughter-in-law likes that kind of thing though. She has furnishings and decorative wall art made from it. Looks pretty good. Curtains are about the only thing I have you might call decorative. My parents were minimalists so I guess I didn't inherit the gene for anything like that.
