America's safest drivers are in Michigan, study says

I think Michigan was rated as the number one state police department in the U.S. for 2 or 3 years in a row. The only bad thing that I can say about them is that they have ugly cars and ugly uniforms, or maybe I’m just a bit jealous. We never knew there was a contest for being number 1, or who chooses, or how they choose. It was something that just never was a priority for us. We only found out because one of our Troopers was perusing the Internet when he found out that there was such a thing. We wondered if the winner gets a trophy or what?

But, if I had to choose, I would choose the Texas Rangers or the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. I have worked with both units in an Investigation role. Both are equally professional and above integrity. JMO.

Two things. This study was sponsored by the Detroit Free Press???? No bias there. :)
But the article stated Michigan had one of the highest car insurance rates, that doesn't make sense. If they are such good drivers, why are the rates so high? They should be the lowest. Somebody is getting scammed.

A few years ago, MSP had a special car build for whatever reason, which I don't remember. It was an all black vehicle that was sharp, but not very easily identifiable.

Reminded me of a hilarious time at work.
I operated a bunch of printers for an aerospace firm. Sometimes the engineers wanted personal documents printed - like recipes, etc. I'll never forget one document that had to do with a recommendation for a church pastor. It read:
"I recommend Steve Cormier for the new pastor of our church." Then it went on to list a whole page about his experience & qualifications & why he was recommending the person.
The last line: "Although Steve is my son-in-law, my recommendation comes without any bias whatsoever."
