Time for Soup

Supposed to be 20 degrees tomorrow and snow. Ugh. But time for soup. Also, since I have so much trouble with digestion and I am not supposed to eat after 3 pm, I’ve decided to kill several birds with one stone. I am going to start having soup for dinner. I am going to put it through the blender so make it really easy to digest.

I bought progresso brand soup. It is expensive and ranges from 2 dollars a can to 3 dollars. I found it on sale at win co for 98 cents a can for the first twelve cans. I bought 12, husband bought 12. I bought the light variety soup. This should help with weight loss or at least no weight gain. Easy to digest, and less pain in my stomach.

Had a can for dinner last night, 200 calories in a can. Stomach felt much better this morning. Hopefully, it continues to help.

Yes, soup time is here. Just last week I bought some dried lentils and some split peas. I make it in my crock pot. I like to be able to control the salt and I can't have gluten so making it myself helps. Both kinds freeze well.
@Aneeda72 I think putting it in the blender is a great idea. I have stomach issues also and find if I eat dinner early it helps. I have no problem digesting the pea soup but the lentils are another story. I give that to the hubby.

Yup, I can’t eat much fiber.

Stay tuned, I'll post a picture of a pot of some homemade goodness in the coming days. :)

Oh, and... go easy on my sweet little birdies, no need to kill any, just stick to the soup idea. LOL!

I could live on soup and make it frequently, especially when my refrigerator gets full of leftovers and limp veggies (I call it "refrigerator soup"). It might be chicken-based or beef-based or just veggies, depending on what I have.

Except for tomato soup, I won't eat canned soup. I'm going to try a recipe soon for a chunky cream-of-tomato soup. You use chicken broth, a jar of marinara sauce and a pint of heavy cream.

Oh, I'd KILL for some good butternut squash soup right now!
Here ya go!

I enjoy Campbell's tomato soup and chicken and noodle. I also like to look for the odd or unusual flavors like tomato basil and some others I've seen that were pretty good.
Mix a can of Campbell’s tomato with equal parts milk. Sprinkle in basil and heat slowly. Sometimes I do this when I run out of soup that I make for DH.
As soon as the weather is cool I make large pots of soup and freeze in smaller portions.

Good heaven's, Progresso soup now costs that much? I am so glad I make my own. Hope you digest it well.

I like to cook, As we speak I'm making home made vegetable soup which has a very deep rich flavor and I like it on the thicker side. Additionally when I was growing up our soup always had Rotini pasta in it. This does as well. I make large quantities, I divide it 3rds, 1-3rd goes to the table for dinner the other 2/3rds goes into the freezer.
