When tree's fight back

Wow, @Aneeda72, what a crazy story.

One question - why do you say that most vets we've been in a field hospital hate doctors? What's wrong with field hospital doctors?
Nothing is wrong with the doctors as far as I know,

It’s the situation and the circumstances. Injured men, screaming, dying, the smell of blood, and death, and other stuff. The wait for treatment etc. Field hospitals are tents, lots have to wait for treatment outside the tent, no air conditioning in or out of the tent. Flies etc. Sometimes incoming fire as in bombs, etc. A shortage of everything.

And it’s the 1960’s. This is war in the jungle not a nice hospital in the suburb.

Watching tv shows like 'Life below Zero" People in Alaska living off the grid have to cut trees for firewood.
I've watched them cut down trees, barely avoiding the tree falling on them-spooky; especially as medical treatment is hundreds of miles away.

Yep, like the time a Vietnamese guy cut my finger to the bone with a rubber tree cutter. (didn't want us searching his hut) Choppered me to a nearby mash setup and they merely pinched the skin together and sewed it shut. No shots, no nothing, as they had more serious cases to tend to. can't straighten this finger to this day.
After, they sent me to the rear for a better job with cleansing the wound, a better bandage, and a tetanus shot .
Wasn't all bad, got me 2 weeks in the rear base camp.

So cute!
Sorry about your finger.

So,@squatting dog, what I hear you saying is you gave the Vietnamese the finger and got a Purple Heart in exchange 🤣. (sorry you were injured, of course.).

@StarSong, and that was how it worked. Sucking chest wounds first, fingers last. I could not remember how my husband left the scene so I asked him. He said they radioed and sent a Jeep out to get him and the others, then to the field hospital, and then to behind the lines, and then to Hawaii.

Since he did not bleed, he did not get a Purple Heart. I am assuming squatting dog did.

Well, I thought you were going to the doctor for the leg which still looks awful, guess not. Take care of yourself, better care of yourself, maybe choose another tree? One already laying on the ground? I thought you had to dry the wood before burning it?

That tree had been lightning struck last year. It was already dead and except for a bit on the bottom, all the bark was gone. I have a mix of green and dry wood split. But, I need more dry (to get the green burning completely) so I'm culling the storm damaged dead ones on the property.

Well... I had to go down and see how large the chunk of limb was that got me. It was larger than I expected.
I suppose I'll have to get my tractor and knock that tree the rest of the way down. Perhaps next week if I feel up to it. Winter is still coming and I need the wood don't ya know. :)

Take someone with you and be extra careful now that you've stirred those trees up there is no telling what might happen!

Well, I'm happy to say the swelling and bruising are starting to clear up and I'm able to hobble around without a cane or crutch. (y)
Knee bends as it should, foot has all its veins showing again, toes move like they're supposed too, and, The super scrape is scabbing over nicely and except for a little itching, not too bothersome. Looks like I'll finally be able to head to the woods again and finish my firewood gathering. :)

A little. Thank you for your thoughts.
Ice has brought down the swelling a little. Hurts like hell, and bruised a bit, but it's not the worst that I've been hurt. (does that make sense?) :D The scrape looks worse then it is.
I figure about another week or 2 and then I'm going to go back and hack up the killer tree. :)
Thinking about it last night, I realized how lucky I was that this limb missed hitting my head by inches. More proof God love's a fool. (y)

Only been here a short while compared to others but please look after that @squatting dog it looks nasty. 🤗

I thought of you last night as I looked at a HUGE dead white oak at the back of our property.. neighbor said I could have it if I cut it down.
about 3 ft through and nothing left up top but big limbs...
In honor of you... ill be wearing a motorcycle helmet.
