Painting a wall

When you paint a wall with a brush, does it look like it was painted?
Do you see the brush marks?
I also painted my vanity cabinet and looks painted, badly. Semigloss.

Yes, absolutely.

Rolling provides the nicest outcome, but if you do find you see brush marks, don't be afraid to give the surface a light sanding (really fine sandpaper) to knock the finish down back to smooth.

You can then actually polish the painted areas/surfaces using an electric car-polisher/buffer to achieve a high-gloss finish. I wouldn't recommend it on walls, but for cabinetry and painted furniture the end result can be stunning.

Walls are generally sheetrock, very porous. I've had no problem with brushmarks, and I have painted MANY walls in my life.

I've painted furniture with mixed results.

As long as the brush marks don't reveal the old finish I wouldn't worry about it. If the old finish shows then I would go over it again.

If the new finish is fresh neat and clean I wouldn't be concerned with the brush marks.

Sometimes we tend to be more critical of the results because we've had our eye within an inch of every area of the item being painted.

I have always painted walls with a roller, edging with a brush.

I have painted furniture with a brush. I once painted an old upright piano with a brush. Then we moved and I painted it again with a brush.
Painted it red the first time and black the second time.

You can paint a wall with a brush so that the brush strokes don't show. A professional showed me how. You don't paint up and down
What you do is sort of a figure eight pattern using your wrist. Practice it first behind a refrigerator or stove and see if you like it . It's really a neat way to paint.

Your best bet is to spray paint it outdoors on a warm calm day in the shade. Take the drawers out and do them separately. Spray paint for furniture is available now. The hard part is the top. The easy parts are vertical. Don't try to cover in one coat.
