Coat of Arms

I was wondering if there was anyone on SF that might be a historian or has researched the coat of arms of yesteryear. One building that I'm restoring has a coat of arms, from the Original Owner/builder,IMG_0151.jpg in the stained glass window in the Foyer, construction dating 1848-1850. I have attached a picture and was wondering if anyone knew how I could research it's history.

Lots of confusing information on the internet.

From what I've been reading the blue shield indicates truth & loyalty.

The diagonal stripe/bend sinister guile may represent bastardy/illegitimacy at some point in the past. The sanguine/red in the stripe represents warrior/strength and the gold in the stripe represents generosity/kindness.

No indication of a connection to a family name, school, etc...

It may be a generic decoration.

Thanks for sending me on an interesting little tangent. :)

Confusing infö is so true. Know the builders/owners name. We found a diary if his travels in the attic on a shelf, and that same symbolic design or coat of arms is on the first and last page of his journal. AN interesting bit of history.

My great aunt had my maternal great grandmother's family's tree traced back to when they originated in Sweden, emigrated to the Netherlands, and found their way to America by 1650. They were landed gentry inasmuch as being prosperous land owners and farmers and were conferred with a coat of arms which can still be seen on a small chapel on their former land over the door entrance to same. We all have rings made each generation.

That is a great resemblance of your family, what a wonderful history.
