Covid 19, reality check

We went to the casinos, in Kansas City, Thursday...and had some fun. Then Friday morning, my wife woke up with a fever, chills, and not feeling very good. So, we packed up and headed home. On the way, we stopped at a regional health center which had drive-up testing, and got checked for this CV. They called this morning and said we both tested Negative. However, needless to say, we didn't sleep very well last night, waiting for these test results.

If we had Any Doubts about this pandemic, this event made believers out of us.

Well, I'm glad you're now believers. As for testing, some people test negative at the beginning of the illness. My sister has had several patients with negative tests until around day five or six. Monitor your temperatures and get a pulse oximeter to measure oxygen saturation. Supplemental oxygen administration as soon as O2 sats start dropping is crucial.

We've taken this virus seriously, and never go anywhere without a mask, etc. However, this incident removed any feelings of "invincibility" we may have had. Good suggestion of getting an Oximeter...I just ordered one.

Apparently it is true that some test negative at the beginning of the illness. Even though I tested negative for COVID-19 at the VA, since they said I was exhibiting some of the symptoms, I was asked to self-quarantine for two weeks so I did. I was tested again and again tested negative. The symptoms were gone, so I no longer needed to quarantine.

We've been using one of these meters for awhile now. My wife has been suffering for the past 9 months with a form of auto-immune vasculitis and has had stays at our local hospital and Mass. General Hospital in Boston. She's had the Covid test quite a few times during this period and fortunately they have been negative. The oximeter and temperature are regular daily tests for her.
