What special forks and knives do you have?

I have the usual assortment of knives. Steak knives, although we rarely have steak, regular Table knives, paring knives, large cutting knives. My special knife would be the green handle watermelon cutting knife. The blade has a picture of watermelon with seeds on it so of my memory really fails I’ll know what this knife is for. 😂

As for forks, table forks, salad forks, one large fork for, hmm, forking a roast 😀, and a tiny fork for for digging out crab out of snow crab legs. I love snow crab. There was a shortage of it this year and it’s grown terrible expensive.

We're fairly basic and simple folks, so butter knives, steak knives, a selection of chef knives, and a fancy-schmancy crystal-handled butter knife from the 1940's or 50's, which we don't use.

As for forks... regular, ordinary dinner forks, dessert forks, and a roast fork. Can't tell you the last time I set-out dessert forks, not even for special family gatherings at our house, I just rely on dinner forks for all.

What is the difference between a salad fork and a dinner fork? Are they the same?

Actually, a dinner fork has longer tines than a salad fork. I don't know that it's important! :)
Yup, I just google it. Sometimes a dinner fork only has 3 tines instead of four. The tines on the salad fork are thicker than the tines on the dessert fork.

I have a couple of trident pickle forks and a set of cake/pastry forks similar to these.

I also have a couple of these Civil War-era granny forks that I use for cooking.

All my flatware is un-special except for a certain little spoon I've mentioned. When I moved here 5yrs ago I was starting fresh, you might say, and had either tossed out or given away all of my kitchen utensils and gadgets, except for the flatware and the dishes, and the only things I bought after settling in were a set of kitchen knives of various sizes and colors; one red, one yellow, and one blue; a microwave, and a toaster. BUT, for slicing watermelon, I always grab the large red knife. :)
