What are your aspirations for the future?

I hope to complete and pass Open Water certification then spend time scuba diving.

I hope my son in-law overcomes his anxiety to participate in family gatherings and return to work. His parents disowned him for lack of submission to their demands, ultimately my daughter & son in-law had to choose between doing their every bidding or coming to a reasonable agreement and continue as is, The kids did not expect the third option of total abandonment by his parents. My son in-law endured psychological abuse his entire life, now he's lost.
My wife & I don't interfere, we trust our daughter in support of her husband.

Perhaps related to my first aspiration is stay as active as possible even if I don't feel like it.

A vaccine. Then a cruise, and a trip to Key West. And a trip to England. Then another cruise. And a new hip for Dave.

I was going to say "die young stay pretty" (1970s song by Blondie), but it's too late for that, both on the pretty and young scales.

I hope to remain healthy and active long enough to help our youngest grandson (just turned 2) drive his parents crazy in an amusing and loving manner.

I'm also hoping to start diving more. I was actually certified (as a diver) back in '76 but didn't do more than the certification dives until about four years ago when I did three dives.

I also hope to have a minor medical issue taken care of but I'm waiting for the hospitals to be safer and less crowded.

I've probably got about 3 1/2 more years of work. Once that's over I hope to volunteer in education or music. I might get a part time job doing something I love.

My wife and I hope to travel more but only time will tell.

I'd also like to start climbing in the gym again and also start climbing outdoors again.

Other than that I'll be doing what I love, finding new music, trying new wines, enjoying food, reading and taking photos.

My aspirations have all be lost to covid. I have none left. 😟
Yeah, I kinda feel the same. If there's any silver lining at all, I think maybe the lockdown has kind of gotten me closer to being used to the loneliness of old age. It sounds dumb, but I've found that having the TV (or music, but TV works better) on almost all the time; I figure it's gonna be noisy in the skilled nursing facility I end up in (it was in the ones 4 of my parents were in anyway), so I might as well get used to the noise now.

In retirement, and especially with the COVID-19 lock down, I am working on being able to open a fakebook to any tune and instantly come up with a performance ready solo fingerstyle instrumental guitar arrangement of it "on the fly" as a cocktail pianist would. I can already do this to some extent on piano. Typical places where this sort of thing would be appropriate might be hospitals and nursing home, hospices, coffee houses, restaurants, etc. I am getting to the point where I can do this, but it is a steep learning curve like learning a foreign language fluently.

Tony
