What is your definition of fun things to do?

I seriously don’t know what would be fun for me anymore. At 74, and with my physical limitations, what could I do that would be fun. What do you do for fun now? What would you do for fun if Covid-19 did not limit you?

My husband is an avid outdoorsman and hunter, so he busies himself with that a lot. As a couple we go for walks and hikes (in the bush), we go mushroom and berry picking, we regularly visit locales throughout the year to watch wildlife in their nature habitat, and I'm a diehard birder and gardener.

Before Covid hit, we enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and just doing our own thing at home.

We've never been much for travel.

Things that interest me. What makes me happy is the journey before the destination. I continue to work hard in preparation for open water scuba diving certification.

Been having intense stomach pains with ongoing body weakness possibly related to Augusts gallbladder surgery. Thursday i get blood drawn, take in stool sample and sonogram. I find these things a nuisance and one more thing to overcome. On the positive side, I may regain my strength to obtain my goal.

if I am able to surpass all complications and finally obtain certification it will be my greatest achievement

Now I realize I'm not having much fun! I guess my fun is throwing the fuzzy rattle ball for the cat, I don't exactly like doing it but he gets so excited about it I wind up laughing a lot. Sometimes I like to dance around in the kitchen while waiting for the microwave to finish.
When we get past Covid I am looking forward to going on a Safari in Africa (the kind of safari where people ride in a vehicle and watch for animals and take pictures).
This week my fun has been learning how to whip cream and eating it. Covid has really lowered the bar for fun.

I have my fingers crossed for you that you get your certification 😍

I love sightseeing, going to festivals and art fairs, and hiking in scenic spots. I love to go to breweries and cideries where we can listen to a band and nurse one beer/hard cider all evening.

I used to love going to the cinema to see the kind of movies that are best on the big screen.

About the only thing left to do these days is the hiking. Festivals, fairs, breweries, movies.....poof! Nothing going on.

Going into the childrens playground after they have all gone home, and riding on everything. I want to try out that new climbing frame.
Taking off my shoes and running on a sandy beach...sounds a bit silly but feels very pleasant.
Snorkelling.....I can spend hours just floating and watching the fish.

It's the little things that make me happy. My wife is my best friend and spending any amount of time with her is precious. After a long day at work we have each other to debrief and freedom to express anything that we choose without retribution. We know each other better than anyone else. January 11, is our 41st anniversary.

For me, anything that keeps me "in the moment" is fun. That could range activities such as going for a walk, going on a road trip, dining out with friends, or watching a riveting TV show. If memory serves me correct, there are other activities that I find fun but it has been so long that I forgot how fun they were :) Seriously, I rarely get bored and it doesn't take much for me to have fun these days.

Currently I’m spending a lot of time helping Ron with the kitchen renovation. It’s physical work which I enjoy, and I’m learning all the time....everything from how to operate different power tools to the most efficient way to hang crown molding! I’m also slowly going through every cupboard, closet and drawer and de-cluttering and organizing. It’s fun for me, not a chore like it is for so many. Watching movies on Netflix or Amazon Prime with Ron, visiting with my daughter and the grands, who are in our bubble. Lots of time spent nurturing my many houseplants. (I have over 50, many of which reside outside in the warm months)

Before Covid life was much more social. Dancing every week, Ron and I would go out to eat at least twice a week, always looking for different places but also enjoying our favorites. Going to the movie theater, visiting with friends and family or having them over. Shopping! Canoeing, paddle boarding, kayaking etc in the warmer weather. Sometimes zip lining or hiking. Going on mini trips every few weeks, staying overnight in an Airbnb. Riding the bike to or around scenic places or to one of several biker type bars for a beer and a meal. Hopping on a plane to visit with family out of state. Garage sales!

Man, writing all that pre-Covid stuff out is making me miss it even more! 😖

I liked going to our activities in our community room downstairs. Bingo, our potluck supper, movie night and our tenant or manager meetings. It was the way new tenants got to know everyone else and became friends. I think the quarantine has hurt us in that way. They opened the community room but limited it to 2 people at a time and then set hours that we could use it. That is ridiculous.

I liked going to the festivals, outdoor concerts and other activities that took place across the street in the parks. I like going to car shows, the state park for a picnic and thrift stores. Sometimes just going for a ride in the country is nice. I am not miserable though and enjoy my days even though I can't walk very well.
