My Endoscopy

I had the thing at noon. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight which is awful cause I like to eat and drink. Got there, they took me in, I refused a blood transfusion in case doctor goofed and I needed one. I had to have an anesthesiologist even though conscious sedation was used cause I am so special šŸ˜‚.

Anyway, doctor say he took about 15 biopsies from four different places in my stomach so if I spit up blood I was not to worry. However, if I throw up blood call the paramedics and hoof it to the hospital. šŸ™„. My stomach was inflamed and I had a rash on the inside of my stomach. What? I was to call and get an appointment for phone consultation in a couple weeks as he is going out of town. Ok.

Doctor said he would figure out what was wrong and get me on some medication that will help. Throat is a bit sore but was made better by ICE CREAM. 🤣. Hospital coffee shop had cherry chocolate chip ice cream, had not seen that in years. So scoop of that and of play dough ice cream and throat felt better 😌 for a while.

Stopped at bakery down town and got a frosted Christmas cookie, and a small piece of cake for later. Stopped at grocery store and got some peppermint candy ice cream for later cause nothing says Christmas like ice cream. Got a little Caesar pizza for late lunch. Now I’m home, full, and wishing my throat didn’t hurt.

Will know results in a couple weeks. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø It’s always hurry up and wait.

It's good to see that you got this day behind you!

It doesn't sound like fun,:cautious:

despite the delicious flavors of ice cream and cake.
Oh, and cookie and frosting. After all, you need a balanced diet, so it's good you had the cookie and cake, not just the ice creams. :ROFLMAO:

You sure know how to make the best of a bad situation! ;)

I hope this was Cookie Dough ice cream, or is there really a Play Dough flavor? Hopefully just a cute name like Moose Tracks.
Yes, there is really a play dough flavor, it is really ā€œcuteā€, looks like various kinds of play dough mixed together and is a variety of flavors. I was so happy with the chocolate chip cherry and called my daughter šŸ˜‚. She’s like WOW, I haven’t see that in years either.

I am so tempted to drive back down there and get another scoop. šŸ˜‚. But no, my adult self says no. šŸ˜‰

Is everything ok, Aneeda?
I am fine, thanks. I decided I would not do anything for Christmas this year, including be on the forum for one day. First year ever without the family at Christmas 😳, so a very quiet sad day.

On a positive note, I found a little Yorkie Terrier in a kill shelter about an hour away. I am going to call on Monday morning and see if we can adopt him, he was left on December 23. Poor puppy he is only a year old and county shelters are not heated. Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

I don’t get the results of my testing till Jan 26, when I have a phone appointment. I am trying to eat stuff that makes my stomach hurt as little as possible. I went on the cancellation list to try and get a sooner appointment. He only does phone appointments.

A couple of years ago, I was rushed off the hospital with acute upper quadrant abdominal pain. Now, for an old O.R. nurse like myself, I knew it was my gall bladder just from my symptoms. I get into the E.R. and the Chief physician who was an old timer himself, did a cursory exam and exclaimed, "It's your gall bladder!" Bingo. But, not so fast with all these nice young turks out of Med. school today. Instead of whisking me off and extracting the thing and sending me home the next day, I began undergoing every test known to man. I had to have an endoscopy first which also meant I'd receive a general anesthetic. So, that meant 2 tubes inserted into the throat, one into the esophagus and the other into the trachea. I shivered at the the thought of how sore my throat would be. Lo and behold, I never even knew I'd had them inserted. Not one little irritation to bother me in the least. I was amazed. Several days and more tests later and out came that nasty gall bladder. The entire thing can be seen on line for that matter which surprised me. Why all this? Well it seems that an 86 yr. old woman may have been full of cancer and that's why the testing. Negative thankfully, but I do have the very slow growing cancerous nodules on my lungs. 3 small ones so far. These young doctors know how to handle those tubes the shove down your throat these days, it seems.

How is it being treated? Targeted radiation? How slow is slow growing? Stage 1B?

My husband has one cancer node in his lung. No treatment, it’s not growing anymore or it’s growing slowly, in any event he gets a scan now once a year.

I had my GB out, doctor tore my liver, had ER liver surgery. I never get general anesthesia.

Right now, no treatment at all as they are static. Still one centimeter in size for two and the third is almost microscopic.
I wish you the very best. Were you a cigarette smoker? You've led such an adventurous, sophisticated life that I wouldn't be surprised if you did!

Boy Aneeda...you've had quite the experiences with doctors lately! I know you're glad that's over with. Hoping for the best outcome for you. Ice cream can make almost anything better. I don't know that I've seen chocolate cherry around either.

They used to have it decades ago, have not seen it in 20 years or so. šŸ˜‚. It is so hard not to go down there and get some more but I have resisted. Now that Christmas is over I’ve got to get off sweet again and pay attention to the blood sugar.

I finally got my results on line for this test. No explanation for the rash so have to wait and talk to him about that. Otherwise, new diagnoses is chronic gastritis with scaring from several healed erosions, plus newer healed erosions, plus healing erosions, and un-healed erosions.

I think erosions are different from ulcers but idk. I’ve had ulcers in the past. As I have said before I also have other stomach issues such as gastroparesis Etc. I want a stomach transplant. 😢
