Interesting article, thanks Aunt Marg, what the man who knows said

most of the credit goes to the public health measures taken to slow COVID-19 - the handwashing, social distancing and mask-wearing - as well as the dramatic drop in international travel.

We haven't started the jab yet, not sure if they are waiting to see what happens elsewhere or if they haven't got enough to go around.
