Senior forums........ what's your favorite soup?

ms gamboolgal makes a wonderful homemade Beef and Vegetable soup.

Might not count as soup, but I make homemade Sea Food Gumbo - and I like it with lots of Dark Roux.....

ms gamboolgal also makes me a big pot of Beans with some Ham with lots of soup that goes so good with the rice and/or her homemade Cornbread and lots of raw onion.

This thread is making me hungry and in the mood to make a big ole pot of Gumbo this weekend.....

All of the above, and I make my own from scratch altho' I do buy stock.

I also like to make creamy fish chowders and New England Clam Chowder as well as Italian Wedding Soup, Lentil Soup, Beef Barley Soup, Chicken Noodle and Pea Soup. I made fresh Cream of Mushroom Soup a few times, also Parsnip and Ginger Soup, Potato Leek Soup and Tomato-Basil.

I haven't yet made Borscht, but I really want to. It's so good with a dollop of sour cream.

Sea Food Gumbo is one I haven't made, but I used to make some kind of gumbo with chicken, ham, okra and the usual other stuff a long time ago.

I agree with Mike but if I had to pick just one it would be vegetable beef with barley.

I make a lot of soups from scratch during the winter, Not so much in warm weather.

Right now I making chicken stock from several chickens. I reduce it and let it set in the screened in porch overnight (it's 10 right now)

The fat rises to the top and I will skim it off. I strain it to remove all the bones etc.

That will turn into Italian wedding soup today.

I made lentil and sausage soup last week. (with onions and carrots).

I make black bean, green pea, white bean, chili, beef stew, and more.

Our fav is the Italian wedding soup.

I have used 23 lbs of chicken to make chicken soup before.

I have several Restaurant sized stock pots. I freeze the finished product in 2 qt containers for later.

I have 2 deep freeze lockers and two refrigerators with freezers as well to store it all.

I give some away to seniors at church too.

I get on kicks with food then after a time move on to something else. Right now my favorite soup is Campbell's tomato. I make it with milk like my mother always did and add seasoned croutons to it.
Oh wow, I love Campbell's Tomato soup, I think that's the best one they make, really really good for store-bought; and I grew up eating it like you describe, Diva, made with the milk and the seasoned croutons (or crackers if no croutons avail.). Unfortunately, I'm allergic to tomatoes and can't eat it anymore, sigh; I still daydream about it though. 😄
