Am I missing out on something?

IMO, these Twitter and Facebook, etc., activities are a boon for those who have excess time on their hands, and have minimal grasp of "reality"....we've all witnessed that over the past 4 years.

Yep,,, and that's why I call them anti-social media. Seems like nobody wants to interact with others in person anymore.

My daughter and husband aren't on Facebook anymore. It seems they were upset about the political side of the site. I was on it mainly to see the grandkids. So now they are after me to sign up for MeWe.
I checked that out and all I see is fighting about politics. That's the last thing I'm interested in and have no intention of getting involved.
It certainly isn't a place to post a photo of my garden or my new pork chop recipe.
She still has messenger on Facebook so I'm content with that. We can send photos and talk about our daily activities although I will never understand why people just can't pick up the phone.
Crazy world if you ask me.

I have both Facebook and Twitter, and enjoy both. Since most of my family and friends are also on Facebook, that it where I can connect with them, and have a glimpse of what is going on in their lives.
If I have some information that I want to tell everyone (like when I had the pacemaker put in) then it is much simpler to just post it on facebook for all of my family and friends to read, than trying to message each one individually.

Another thing that I really love about facebook is the Groups that they have. Anything that you are interested in, Facebook has groups for it.
Since I am from north Idaho originally, I follow some of the north Idaho groups, and I also follow the one for lost dogs and cats in our town. If I see what looks like a lost dog wandering down the street, I can check in the group and see if anyone has reported it as missing.

With Twitter, I do not connect with any of my family, but I follow a lot of different news and government Twitter pages, as well as people who are in the news.
When there is a shooting , explosion, or building on fire, it is reported almost immediately on social media, and usually with pictures from people nearby when that is possible.
You can follow the White House, the FBI, any branch of the service, as well as local officials from your own town.

Between both of them, I am able to keep up with all of the news that I am interested in.

I don’t care to do Twitter, Tiktok or have much of anything to do with Instagram. The times I’ve tried to join Instagram I’ve had strangers try to “follow” me. I do Facebook with a few special interest groups, kids and grand kids send me lots of pix, and it’s good for public service notices, like library, senior affairs, city/state/county, police dept etc.
I’ve managed to keep mine clean of politics by “snoozing, unfollowing or blocking “ as soon as any appears.

All I hear is Twitter this, Twitter that. I have never signed up for it, because I don’t know what it does. Can someone give me the basics and help me understand why I should be on Twitter.
I can’t 😂I went on Twitter for a game I was playing. Twitter said I used too many hashtags. I didn’t know what a hashtag was and I was kicked off. Seems the game responses added hashtags which is the number sign.

No more Twitter for me. I explained this situation to Twitter, they did not care. My advice, watch the hashtags situation closely. 😂😂😂

If you need up to the minute notifications Twitter is the way to go. I used to use it when I used to take the train to and from work. I followed the train agency, CalTrain, and got up to the minute notifications of service disruptions. That's about the only reason I used it.

There were times I followed music artists who would tweet availability of free or reduced price tickets for their shows, but that rarely happened.

I generally don't use it myself.

Like attracts like 👍Twitters for twits 😂
I think it’s similar to Facebook. I have never been on any of them. This is as social as I get.
In all fairness, I have no idea what any of these social media platforms are really like since I’ve never actually used them , so I ‘d like to clarify that I was merely joking. Sometimes I forget that I might unintentionally be criticizing others with my sarcasm.

You are not missing out on anything with Twitter. I joined a few months ago and follow 3 accounts. I also signed up for Instagram and follow about 6 accounts or so. I like Instagram more because people post pictures. I follow a dumpster diver and some RV people.
