What Is It?

Not wanting to hijack another recent thread I'm posting this picture.

The picture is from the internet.

I'll tell you this, they're about the size of a quarter in diameter.

I hope it's a worthy puzzlement.

What are they?

molds for cymbals from Zildjian, perhaps?

Oh! Cancel that! I missed the part about their size. Still think it's a mod for something!

Interesting guesses, but they are not weights, bearings, cymbals or wheels. Keesha is the closest. As for being of alien origin, hmmm I don't believe so, although they have something in common with Billy Pilgrim. I don't believe I could give a more vague or impossibly obscure clue.

...nor could I provide a more vague or impossibly obscure answer.

What do these objects have in common with Billy Pilgrim? Diamonds.

These are wire drawing dies that are used in various types of wire drawing machines to produce wire of a specific gauge. I used to work in factory and my job was to run plated wire from 12 gauge down to 34 gauge.

As for the diamonds, inside the metal case is a bored out industrial diamond that is the actual wear surface. Billy Pilgrim the main character from Slaughter House Five, found a diamond ring in the pocket of a coat he was wearing.

It was tbeltrans alien reference that gave me the idea for that one.

Very interesting, and a fun thread topic!

Would be fun to do a regular "What Is It" topic, where members post a picture of something odd or unusual or old for members to guess.

Anyhow, thanks for posting this, Oris! :)

Aunt Marg,

You're very welcome. That's what I was thinking ,that it would make a fun thread.
That it did, and I appreciate members as yourself that help make the forum the fun and enjoyable place that it is. :)

I'm going to hunt around in the days to come to see if there's anything I can find that would make for an interesting "What Is It" thread topic.

Glad to be of help. :)

Components for a pressure fluid or gaseous movement assembly. The circular groove is for a seal or gasket and the beveled center is the female connection (fitting) to another component. As common as pennies.
