Italian Short Pasta Types/Shapes

It's amazing to me how the same basic ingredients can be used to create so many different tastes and textures.

It's also funny to me how eating elbows and thick spaghetti make me feel poor.

Who knew there were that many shapes and sizes, not me. I like how they used a kidney bean for size comparison.

I can just picture a tennis banquet with a dish made from those little tiny tennis racket shaped pasta.

I agree.

Honestly, I could eat pasta 8 days a week, I really could, and dear husband is the same, we truly love a good pasta dish even if it isn't fancy.

I've never felt poor eating certain pasta types, probably because I always either do a kick-butt sauce to go along with, or serve up a delicious side to compliment.

I always keep a few different types on hand. Sometimes it is just nice to make a small bowl with butter. Funny how they all seem to have their own function. Sort of. When my mom made macaroni salad she always used shells. Always. I find myself doing the same thing.

One of my dads favourites was Conchiglioni with cottage cheese.

Have to admit is was good.

Oh gosh, adding cottage cheese is great. My mom always did it. And I was talking with my niece (who never knew her grandma) and she said her dad (my brother) got her and her husband eating it, and they love it

I am not a huge pasta fan but do enjoy it on occasion. And I must brag, my spaghetti sauce is to die for.

Will admit to loving the Tortellini from Costco, one of the few cheating foods I buy. I add a few veggies, some kind of meat, olive oil, mmmmm good.

Most unappreciated hard work and so many have never tried home made pasta. At an Italian festival that happened every year in the Chicago suburb I grew up in the elderly Italian women would spend tons of hours every day in the church basement making their great dishes. To the outside observer it looked like work but we knew they were in heaven making all that fabulous food.

Fascinating. Surprised more of the unusual ones aren’t featured in the upscale restaurants. Campanelle are attractive.
